AAPI Online Reference Portal

Overview

You must use the Standardized Reference Form for the AAPI Online (formally known as the Canadian Council of Professional Psychology Programs form) to complete your recommendation. This form can be used for both Canadian and US references. 

My Profile

You will start the reference process on the My Profile page. Verify that the information is correct, make any necessary changes, and click Save to move to the next step. You will not be able to submit your recommendations unless this page is saved.

My Applicants

A list of all applicants who requested Standardized Reference Forms from is listed on the My Applicants page. To open a request, click the blue title. Notes entered by the applicant display at the top of the page.

Applicants can request multiple forms from a single reference, in which case you may be required to complete multiple forms for the same applicant. 

Uploading Your Reference

  1. To upload your form, click the blue Uploads button.
  2. Locate and select the file. Then, click Upload.
  3. Click the Preview button to review your uploaded document. If you need to make changes, delete the file and upload a new one to replace it.
  4. Once you are satisfied with your uploaded document, click Submit to complete the process.

After you submit your recommendation, the applicant will receive an email notifying them that you submitted the Standardized Reference form. You will also receive an email confirming successful submission.

Note that submitted recommendations cannot be edited or changed without first contacting AAPI Online Support to have the form re-opened. If the applicant has already submitted their application with your form attached, the request to have the form re-opened will need to come from the applicant. AAPI Online will not accept recommendations sent via email.

Declining a Reference Request

To decline a reference request, click the arrow button next to the request.

Applicant Authorization

The applicant has agreed to the following two statements prior to submitting this recommendation request to you:

I hereby give APPIC permission to contact the reference below via email notification. If my reference does not submit an online reference form to APPIC in response to the email request, it is my sole responsibility to contact the reference directly to ensure all references required by my designated Internship Programs are received by the deadline.

I hereby give permission to the internship program to which I am applying to contact the Reference either to verify the information I provided and/or for further clarification of the information I provided, if necessary.

Deadlines

Applicants must arrange for AAPI Online to receive all recommendations by the application deadline date set by their designated sites. AAPI Online does NOT enforce recommendation deadlines.

Recommendations will be reproduced and forwarded to each of the applicant’s designated sites, even if they are received after an institutional deadline.

Investigations

AAPI Online will not verify a reference's identity. If a site suspects a recommendation is falsified, it is the site’s responsibility to contact the applicant or reference to investigate. AAPI Online will share any suspected cases of falsified recommendations reported by a site with the applicant and the applicant’s other designated sites without comment regarding appropriate action. AAPI Online will not attempt to verify the accuracy of the site’s investigation results.
