Academic History

You can activate and deactivate the Academic History sections available in the Applicant Portal here. Select which tiles you want to have available; any inactive tiles are grouped at the bottom. You can reorder the tiles by dragging and dropping.

Once you've selected the active tiles, you can further customize them by clicking their names in the Menu Bar.

Custom Tile

You can add a custom tile, unique to the CAS and cycle.

  1. Click Add Tile
  2. Enter the name.
  3. Click Save.

Colleges Attended

To edit the tile name:

  1. Click the edit icon.
  2. Enter the new name.
  3. Click the check icon.

To edit the instructional text for this tile:

  1. Click the edit icon.
  2. Enter your text. You can use the formatting options to further customize your text.
  3. Click Save.

You can further customize the transcripts and coursework collected here. Note that the Transcript Offering, Coursework Accepted, and Verification Offering options change depending upon the selections. Review the table at the bottom for more information.

  1. Select the type of transcripts you want applicants to submit.
    • Official: applicants must submit official transcripts from all US and English Canadian institutions.
    • Unofficial: applicants can upload a copy of their transcripts under Colleges Attended.
    • Program Level: programs can decide the type of transcripts they want to collect through the Configuration Portal.
    • None: applicants can't submit transcripts through the CAS.
  2. Select the type of coursework you want applicants to submit.
    • All coursework: applicants must enter all coursework taken at US and English Canadian institutions.
    • Prerequisites only: applicants can enter only coursework that fulfills a program's prerequisites under Program Materials.
    • None: applicants can't enter any coursework.
  3. Select the type of verification offering:
    • Full Coursework: all completed coursework taken at US and English Canadian institutions is confirmed against the official transcripts and GPAs are calculated.
    • Verification Lite: only an applicant's Per Transcript and Overall GPAs are calculated by the verification team, based upon an applicant's official transcripts. No coursework is checked.
    • Programs Can Request: based on the program's transcript and coursework selections, the Configuration Portal automatically selects the type of verification the applicant has.
    • None: verification isn't completed.
  4. Select if programs can choose to configure prerequisites in the Configuration Portal.
  5. Select if applicants can submit electronic WES and ECE evaluations under Colleges Attended.
  6. Select if applicants can upload a foreign transcript under Colleges Attended.
  7. Select if applicants can submit foreign transcripts to the CAS, which are then scanned and added to their application.
  8. If an applicant reports attended a foreign institution under Colleges Attended, select if foreign transcripts must be received in order for the applicant to be moved into the Complete application status.
  9. Click Save.

* Light verification/Verification Lite means only limited GPA calculations will show and if any data point from the transcript is missing, GPAs may not be available.

All Sections

To edit the tile name:

  1. Click the edit icon.
  2. Enter the new name.
  3. Click the checkmark icon.

If you want to edit the instructional text to this tile:

  1. Click the edit icon.
  2. Enter your text. You can use the formatting options to further customize your text.
  3. Click Save.

You can view the existing question blocks. Select which question blocks you want to have active. You can reorder them by dragging and dropping.

Add Question Block and Questions

You can also add custom question blocks and questions.

  1. Click Add Question Block.
  2. Enter the question block title.
  3. Enter your instructions. You can use the formatting options to further customize your text.
  4. Click Save & Add Questions.
  5. Enter the question text.
  6. Select if the question is required.
  7. Select the answer type.
    • Multiple Choice: questions can be single or multiple answers. Single answer questions appear as drop-downs for applicants to select from. Applicants can choose only one response. Multiple answer questions appear with checkboxes for applicants to select. Applicants can choose one or more responses.
      1. Select the input type.
      2. Enter the answer option values. You can choose to enter export codes, where you create codes to pair with the answers.
      3. Click Add Option to add additional options, if necessary. Click the delete icon to remove any answers.
    • Essay: questions appear with a text box where applicants can type their response.
      • Enter the maximum characters an applicant can enter. This includes spaces and punctuation.
    • Either/Or: questions appear with radio buttons where applicants can choose from two responses.
      • Enter the answer option values. You can choose to enter export codes, where you create codes to pair with the answers.
    • Section Text Box: A block of instructional text that you can insert to provide applicants with additional information. This is not an actual question, so applicants can't enter a response. We recommend only using this option if you have a very specific use case.
    • Date: questions appear with a text box where applicants must enter their response in date format via a calendar picker.
    • Numeric: questions appear with a text box where applicants must enter a number.
      1. Enter the maximum number of characters (not including decimal points).
      2. Select if numbers over 999 will automatically be formatted with proper commas.
      3. Enter the number of decimal places.
  8. Click Add Another Question. If finished, click Save & Close.

Once your question block is added, you can:

  • Edit it by clicking Edit.
  • Add additional questions by clicking Add Question.
  • Delete it by clicking Delete. If you delete a question set, all questions under that question set are also deleted. 
  • Minimize its questions by clicking the arrow.
  • Reorder your question sets by dragging and dropping.

Once your question is added, you can:

  • Edit it by clicking the edit icon.
  • Delete it by clicking the trash icon.
  • Reorder your questions within and across custom question blocks by dragging and dropping.
