Application Jumpstart

Application Jumpstart between Cal State Apply and CSU Transfer Planner

Liaison offers several applicant-focused products, including:

  • CAS Applicant Portal: an intuitive, flexible application service that simplifies the admissions process for higher education degrees.
  • CSU Transfer Planner: a system where California Community College students can apply to transfer to one of the 23 California State Universities (CSUs).

Applicants can choose to jumpstart (i.e., prefill) their Cal State Apply application using their CSU Transfer Planner account. This enhancement reduces manual data entry work for the applicant, as they can quickly migrate their demographic information and academic history between Liaison's applicant-focused products.

Cal State Apply (CAS Applicant Portal)

When applicants first create their account for a new application cycle, they have the following options:

  • Prefill their CAS application from an existing CSU Transfer Planner account (new behavior).
  • Prefill their CAS application using the reapplication process from a previous CAS application (existing behavior).

CSU Transfer Planner

Applicants can also prefill their CAS application from CSU Transfer Planner by clicking the Apply for Fall/Spring button on the CSU Transfer Planner dashboard. This process can be initiated only once per CAS application cycle and the button only appears once a student completes their General Education (GE) requirements for Areas A2 and B4.

Information that is prefilled from a CSU Transfer Planner account includes:

  • Any followed programs in CSU Transfer Planner and, if applicable, the Transfer Success Pathway (TSP) enrollment program.
  • Personal Information section: gender, language, race summary, parent education level, and military status data.
  • Academic History section: colleges attended, degree data, college coursework, standardized tests, and GE subjects for Areas A1, A2, A3, and B4.

You will see the following information on the Details button under the Designations panel on the Applicant Details page:

  • Transfer Type: if the applicant has a TSP enrollment.
  • Transfer Planner Intended Transfer Term: the TSP enrollment start term.
  • CCC Start Date: the applicant’s intended transfer term.

All these fields are also available in the List Manager and Export Manager.

Rule to Use: Liaison users can activate the Enable Living Profile Jump Start feature. You can add and update the instructional text for the jumpstart workflow in the CAS application under the feature configs. Be sure to contact the Education & Knowledge team for content review. This feature is only available for Cal State Apply currently.
