General Education: Golden Four (Transfer Only)

This section only applies to transfer applicants.

Transfer students must complete four General Education (GE) courses before transferring to a CSU program. For each subject, use the corresponding drop-down to identify the course that fulfills the GE requirement. You can use in-progress or planned courses. Only one course per GE subject is required.

Upper Division or Associate Degree for Transfer applicants must complete four General Education (GE) courses with a grade of C- or better before being able to transfer to any CSU program.

Lower Division Transfer applicants must fulfill Written Communication and Math Concepts/Quantitative Reasoning with a grade of C- or better.

Note that if you do not meet the general education requirements, you will see a warning message when you submit your application. You can still submit, but you must acknowledge that you do not meet the requirements.

In order to match the credits you earned from passing a Pass/Fail course, you must enter the course on the College Coursework page and include a grade of P.

In order to match the credits you earned from a standardized test (i.e., Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or College Level Examination Program (CLEP)), enter the test information and score on the Standardized Tests page. For details on which standardized tests may fulfill the general education requirements, reference the External Exam Credit list.

Selecting Courses

  1. Click General Education.
  2. Select courses from the drop-down. If you don't have a particular course, click the Opt Out checkbox. If your courses or standardized tests pre-populate the drop-down menus, do not update the course mapping without consulting your advisor.
  3. Click Save and Continue.
