Note that the Credential Program does not provide further preparation in a subject area. Subject matter knowledge should be mastered before entering a credential program. You must pass the CSET Multiple Subjects Subtests I, II, III in order to be considered for admission. CSET Subtest scores are valid for five years and you must earn your credential before your scores expire. For more information on the CSET, click here.

CBEST and CSET Scores
To submit CBEST or CSET scores, you can either request that Pearson Education share your test results with the CSU or submit a sealed, official copy of the results via the application in the Documents section. If you did not yet take the test, submit your proof of registration for the earliest test date.
Note that CBEST scores do not expire. CSET scores are valid for five years. Ensure that your CSET score is valid through the end of the credential program before submitting.
Other Test Scores
If you plan to use a test other than the CBEST or CSET (i.e. CSU Early Assessment Program - College Ready or Exempt, CSU Placement Exams, College Board SAT, ACT, or College Board Advanced Placement Examinations) to satisfy this requirement, you must verify that your scores meet the requirement by submitting them for verification via the Documents section. If you did not yet take the test, submit your proof of registration for the earliest test date.
Note that CSU Early Assessment Program - College Ready or Exempt, CSU Placement Exams, College Board SAT, ACT, or College Board Advanced Placement Examinations do not expire.

Alternatively, you can submit proof of registration for a tuberculosis exam with the earliest test date. You can submit the proof of clearance or registration via the Documents section.
Certificate of Clearance
California state law and Education Code requires a background check to be performed on all teaching credential applicants. You must apply for a Certificate of Clearance with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) or submit proof of prior clearance completion via the Supporting Information section.
Select the checkbox to agree to the terms. Then, select responses to questions below.
Early (Pre-Program) Field Experiences
Title 5 Regulations from the CSU Chancellor's Office require that all credential candidates participate in a supervised Early Field Experience in a public school setting prior to applying to a Credential program. Your experience must be documented on a signed Early Field Experience form and you must obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher or administration evaluating the quality of your work. Both documents must be submitted via the Documents section.
Select the checkbox to agree to the terms.
