Official SAT Scores

Note: The California State University (CSU) has suspended the use of ACT/SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for all CSU campuses. For more information, please visit the First-Time Freshman Guidance and the First-Time Freshman Frequently Asked Questions pages.

Overview

Official SAT scores are submitted electronically to Cal State Apply directly from College Board using the campus-specific SAT code or to 3594, the CSU system-wide code. Scores sent to any campus within the California State University (CSU) system are available to all campuses you apply to. Paper copies are not accepted.

Official SAT scores from College Board can be received by Cal State Apply at any point during the application cycle, even after your application is submitted; however, some campuses may have a deadline by which they want your scores posted. Once your official SAT scores are attached to your application, they cannot be removed.

Submitting Your Official SAT Scores to Cal State Apply

  1. Self-report your SAT scores in the Standardized Tests section of the application and include your test date and College Board ID. This must be listed for your official scores to be matched to your application. Visit the CSU website for additional help, including locating your College Board ID.
  2. Review the list of campus-specific SAT codes below to determine your campus's code, or use 3594, the CSU system-wide code. Scores sent to any campus within the California State University (CSU) system are available to all campuses you apply to.
  3. Provide the codes to College Board and request that your scores be released. Check with College Board about their turnaround and processing times.
  4. After College Board processing, scores are sent to Cal State Apply in batches and then posted to applications daily. Only scores that you requested using the campus-specific SAT codes or 3594, the CSU system-wide code, will post to your application. You can view scores attached to your application in the Standardized Tests section of the Check Status tab.

Missing Test Scores

It is your responsibility to follow up on any missing SAT scores in a timely manner. Before contacting Cal State Apply customer service, first confirm if and when College Board sent your scores to Cal State Apply and confirm your campus's Cal State Apply SAT code.

If you confirmed that College Board sent your scores to Cal State Apply and your scores are not posted at least six weeks after your test date, contact customer service and provide them with the following details:

  • First and last names
  • Date of birth
  • CAS ID
  • Email address
  • College Board ID

We will use this information to determine if we have received the batch and to locate your scores, if possible. If your scores aren't found, we will contact College Board to troubleshoot.

Note: if your name or date of birth appears differently on your SAT than it does on your Cal State Apply application, your scores will not automatically post to your account. This often happens with applicants with hyphens, apostrophes, etc., in their names. Wait until College Board processes the scores, then contact customer service so they can manually connect the scores to your application.
