Setting Up the Connection to Slate

To establish the connection to Slate for the CAS API, you'll first need to create a service account with access to the Slate SFTP and safe-list several IP addresses. You’ll then need to add the standard Source Formats and configure the Slate SFTP directories.

Setting Up a Service User Account

Follow the Slate documentation to add the User Account. This account will be preset to have Slate SFTP access. If  configured properly, the account will be preset to have Slate SFTP access, and the following elastic IP addresses will be automatically safe-listed to enable delivery by the CAS API:

  • Production
    • 35.168.84.72
    • 44.198.99.254
    • 54.221.197.67
  • Prelaunch
    • 3.221.151.218
    • 35.174.21.29
    • 100.24.188.151

To make sure the CAS to Slate integration works smoothly, you need to allow access to the IP addresses listed above. Using the entire range of AWS IP addresses would be the safest option to ensure there are no service interruptions, but may not be possible. If the elastic IP addresses change during a disaster mitigation, service disruptions can happen.

It is necessary to generate a new SFTP password for this account. Be sure to write down the SFTP username and password, as you need that information when subscribing to the CAS API. Once used in a subscription, if the SFTP password is reset, subscriptions must be recreated.

Setting Up Data Source Formats

To import applications, follow the Slate documentation to Add the Applications Source Format.

To import In Progress applications as person records for inquiry or prospect records, follow the Slate documentation for In Progress Applications Source Format.

Setting Up Materials Source Format

If importing documents, follow the Slate documentation to Add the Materials Source Format.

This Source Format is not a true Source Format. You will not see imported materials in the list of sources and you will not see any fields in the Remap section.

Setting Up Slate's SFTP

When an Import Path/Mask is set, directories should automatically be created in Slate’s SFTP. This process may take approximately 15 minutes, or you can run Force Process Pickup in the Database. Verify that the appropriate directory folders were created: /incoming/liaison and any subfolders if they were set in the Import Path/Mask.

Setup Tips

  • If you plan on integrating multiple CAS applications, consider leaving the initial Source Format as is, and creating copies for each CAS integration.
  • Set Remap As of Date to a date before the first file is received. This must be set to view mappings for uploaded files. Keep Remap Active as Inactive.
  • In each Source Format, set the Import Order in the Import Automation tab. Depending on the number of Source Formats, the data files must be imported before the documents, coursework, and SSNs. Example: In Progress Applications Source Format (1), Applications Source Format (2), Documents Source Format (3), Coursework Source Format (4), SSN Source Format (5).
  • Use the Internal Name field to identify the Source Format.
