Planning for CAS-Slate Data Integration

How long will it take?

A conservative estimate for the project duration is three months. Each institution’s data ecosystem and CAS situation are different, which makes it hard to estimate how much work will be involved in building a data integration. Variations in admissions workload over the academic cycle add more variability to the project timeline. With a dedicated team, it’s possible to build data integration much faster.

Things to consider during your planning stage

Here are some questions to consider when planning your integration:

At what stage(s) do you want data and documents from CAS?
Do you want to import SSN to Slate?
How should In Progress applications be imported: inquiry/prospect or unsubmitted application? This determines if the In Progress Applications Source Format should be used.
What data needs to be imported to Slate?
- Should any of the pre-mapped fields by unmapped?
- What additional fields need to be mapped? Review our Commonly Mapped Fields.
- Consider:
  - What is required to create and review applications in Slate?
  - What is needed for decision letters?
  - What is required to create records in SIS?
How many schools and self-reported test scores need to be mapped? The standard Source Format is pre-mapped with five schools and three self-reported test scores of each type.
