Version 1.1

Introduction

Othot is pleased to announce the release 1.1 of the Othot platform. This release adds some significant new functionality to the platform as well as improved quality, performance and security. This document details the changes, additions and unseen improvements to the platform. If you have any questions regarding the contents of this document or require additional information on any new feature or change to the platform, please contact Othot Support at support@othot.com.

Data Science Engine Upgrade

Release 1.1 includes an upgrade to the underlying data science engine that supports the train, predict and what-if operations. This engine provides many areas of improved performance, data processing and functionality. Some highlights of this upgrade are as follows:

  • Inclusion of several new data science algorithms
  • Capabilities to include multiple algorithms in a single HIQ
  • Automated method to determine the best-fit algorithm for a specific customer HIQ
  • Improved presentation of model performance
  • Multiple new functions to cleanse and preprocess data
  • Ability to add custom granularity to what-if continuous buckets
  • Release 2 of Othot Data Science Language

Lifecycle Modeling

The Othot platform now supports Lifecycle functionality in training, predicting and insights presentation. This enables customers to determine lifecycle stages of the targets in each HIQ, to better understand where in the process a target currently is and to improve accuracy of the targets predicted outcome. For example, in the Higher Education Enrollment HIQ, a student lifecycle might include lifecycle stages for a student as a prospect, as an applicant and as an admitted student. The Othot engine will train three models in this scenario and with each prediction target determine the lifecycle of that target and predict against the associated lifecycle phase model. This provides customers with the highest preforming prediction and what-if results.

With Lifecycle in effect for an HIQ, customers will be able to see for each predicted target the lifecycle that target is in and use the grid to quickly filter to look at targets within that lifecycle phase. The platform also provides model performance for each lifecycle phase and shows distinct feature importance’s for each of the lifecycle models.

Contact your customer success contact to work with Othot to enable lifecycle in your environment.

Integrated Census

The Othot platform now integrates our Census database directly in the platform. This means that customer train and predict operations can be done on the platform and the platform will add the defined census features to the model.

If your model is not using census and you would like to explore the inclusion of census features, please contact your Othot customer success representative.

Division Functionality

Customer instances can now be partitioned into divisions or organizations. These divisions can represent different branch campuses, dealerships, or segments within the customer’s enterprise. Using divisions, HIQs can be answered with data that is specific to that division. Different HIQs and different HIQ configurations can be enabled in different divisions. Finally, users can be associated with one or more divisions. Users are only able to see HIQs in the divisions they are assigned.

If you have a use case for enabling divisions in your instance, contact your Othot customer success representative.

Aggregated Feature Impact Visualization

A third visual has been added to the existing probability distribution and projected visualizations. This visual is the aggregated feature impact display. This shows the most impactful features for the current filtered set. The impact displays the net impact in order of largest contribution.

This can be used to gain insights into what is most impacting the projected outcome of any filtered set. For example, in the Higher Education Enrollment HIQ, a filter can be applied to see Potential students from a specific high school, ethnicity or state. The feature impact can provide insights to the most impactful prescriptions or help create marketing approaches to focused groups.

Saved Filters

Users can now save configurations and give them names so they can be quickly recalled and applied to the grid. Users can have as many saved filters as required. Saved filters can be updated or deleted as required.

Other Enhancements

This release adds several enhancements to the Othot platform functionality. The following is a list of the most significant enhancements included in this release:

  • What-If Delta
What-if results add a column to the grid that displays the delta for each what-if prediction. This shows the net impact of the what-if prescription.
  • Action Column
Customers can now provide prediction ranges and associate these ranges to actions or words. This can be used to provide clear action plans based on prediction values to system users.
  • Column Addition Search
A search feature has been added to the column addition page that allows users to search for the columns they wish to add to the grid by name or part of the name.
  • Default Visualization Profile Setting
Users can now set the default visualization they wish to see in the insights page upon login. This setting is found in the user profile.
  • Display of Filtered and Total Record Count
A constant display of the total number of predictions in the HIQ and the filtered value is now displayed right next to the grid menu.
  • Export Options for Reference Data Visualizations
The reference data visualizations now support export. This export provides the projections for every value in the selected feature display.
  • System Messages
Othot can now configure messages that are displayed to users in the upper center part of their screen. These messages are acknowledged by clicking the x button of the message.

Integration Expansion

In this release Othot has exposed several new APIs that can be used to connect external systems to the Othot platform. Each of these APIs are documented (https://prod-api.othot.com/api/v1/docs/) so integration engineers can begin to develop and test integration solutions.

To enable system integration with your Othot instance, contact Othot support (support@othot.com) to get your API key. Customers can test integration prior to production deployment using a development instance provided by Othot.

SSO (Single Sign On) Support

The Othot platform now supports SAML 2.0 enabling customers to connect internal systems to Othot to enable users to have seamless access to Othot without the need to authenticate at the Othot login page. SAML 2 supports connection with most federated identify solutions including Shibboleth and salesforce.com.

Performance and Quality

This Othot platform release improves the overall quality of the platform by addressing several functional and usability issues reported by the Othot team and customers. There are also several areas of performance improvements that should result in an overall better user experience.

Next Release

The Othot development team has already begun working on the next release, 1.2. This release is scheduled to go into production in late March 2017. More details about the features planed for the 1.2 release can be provided by your Othot Customer Success or Othot Sales contact.
