Optional Letter Sharing During SOAP

Overview

ResidencyCAS offers an optional letter-sharing feature during SOAP to support applicants working within a compressed timeline. This feature allows eligible applicants to share existing Letters of Recommendation with ERAS, if they choose to do so.

Accessing Letter Sharing

If you are eligible for letter sharing during SOAP, banner notifications appear in ResidencyCAS beginning the Monday of SOAP in the following locations:

  • On the ResidencyCAS homepage, under What’s Next.

ResidencyCAS Application_Whats Next Release Notification.

  • Within the Evaluations section of your application.

ResidencyCAS Application_Evaluation Release in fourth Quadrant

These banners indicate that the letter-sharing option is available, not that any letters have already been shared. Click the banner to proceed to the letter share confirmation prompt.

Confirming Letter Sharing

Before any letters are shared with ERAS, you must explicitly authorize the release. To confirm:

  1. Click Learn More in the Evaluations section of the application.
  2. Click the checkbox to confirm the release of your letters.
  3. Click Confirm.

Additional Information

  • Sharing letters and assigning letters are separate steps.
    • Sharing letters with ERAS does not automatically assign them to programs.
    • You must still assign letters within each system and submit them with your applications.
  • Once letters are released to ERAS, the action cannot be undone.
