The SOAP Schedule for ResidencyCAS

Applicants can begin applying for SOAP through ResidencyCAS. Important Note: programs will not have access to any applications in the ResidencyCAS Program Portal throughout the day.	Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM ET
Programs can begin reviewing SOAP applications in the ResidencyCAS Program Portal and conducting interviews with applicants; interview processes may vary by program.	Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 8:00 AM ET
SOAP offer rounds begin. Programs extend offers to applicants, and applicants must accept or decline within the allotted time.	Thursday, March 20, 2025
All SOAP programs close – applications will no longer be accepted.	Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 9:00 PM ET

Participating in SOAP

To participate in SOAP, applicants must meet NRMP's eligibility criteria. This includes:

Being registered for the Main Residency Match.
Being eligible to enter Graduate Medical Education (GME) on July 1 of the Match year and meeting all requirements prescribed by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Being unmatched or partially unmatched as of the Monday of Match Week.

Applying to Programs During SOAP

In ResidencyCAS, applying to programs during SOAP follows a process similar to the regular application cycle:

Navigate to the Add Program tab on the left side of your dashboard.
Select the programs you want to apply to. Programs accepting SOAP applications will have SOAP included in their program name.
Assign your evaluations to the programs.
When you're ready, submit your application.

Application Fees

If you applied through ResidencyCAS earlier in the cycle, there are no additional fees during SOAP.
If this is your first time applying via ResidencyCAS this cycle, a $99 fee will be assessed for up to 45 programs, the maximum number you can apply to.

Creating an Account (For First-Time Users Only)

If you are using ResidencyCAS for the first time, obtain an individual access link from your degree-granting medical school to create your account and start your application.

Important Note: data from other application systems, such as ERAS, cannot be transferred into ResidencyCAS.

SOAP FAQs for ResidencyCAS

How will I know if I’m eligible?

The NRMP notifies you of your eligibility for SOAP via email on the Monday of Match Week.

How do I know which programs have unfilled positions?

The NRMP provides a list of unfilled positions to eligible applicants on Monday of Match Week. When you log into ResidencyCAS on Monday of Match Week, only SOAP-eligible programs appear.

Do I need to submit a rank order list for SOAP?

No, applicants do not submit a rank order list for SOAP. Unlike the Main Residency Match, SOAP does not use a matching algorithm or rank order lists. Instead, it operates on real-time offer and acceptance principles.
