Use an Existing Account to Re-Apply

Overview

You can use an existing account from a previous cycle to re-apply in the current cycle. Your CAS ID will remain the same.

To access your account, you’ll need to obtain a new access link for the current cycle from your degree-granting medical school:

  • US fourth-year students and graduates (MD or DO): contact your medical school of graduation.
  • Canadian medical graduates: contact CaRMS.
  • International medical graduates (IMGs): contact ECFMG.

Once you receive your new access link, log in using the same credentials from your previous cycle. This is the only way to access your prior application data. Do not create a new account – doing so will prevent access to any existing information.

After logging in, you can choose to start a fresh application or copy forward data from the previous cycle.

If You Choose to Start a Fresh Application

The data from your previous application cycle is wiped clean and you proceed with a blank application.

If You Choose to Copy Application Data

Information such as biographic details, research and work experience, and letters of recommendation can be carried forward from the previous cycle. However, Standardized Letters of Evaluation (SLOEs) cannot be copied into the current cycle due to recent changes to the evaluation form.

    1. Log in to the application. A welcome screen appears; confirm you want to begin the re-application process by clicking Start Reapplication.
    2. Click the checkbox to confirm that you want to copy your previous application. After you click Confirm, you cannot start over with a new, blank application.
    3. Select the information you want to carry over. Unselected items will not carry over and cannot be recovered, so ensure your selections are complete before proceeding.
    4. Click the checkbox to confirm your selections and your understanding that this action cannot be undone. Then, click Continue.
    5. Your selected data will begin copying to your new application. This usually takes a few minutes to complete, but can be up to 30 minutes. You will receive an email once the application is ready. If it is taking longer than 30 minutes, log out and log back in to check your application status.

Once your application is successfully copied, you must review every copied section and confirm the data is accurate. You can make updates if necessary.

    Downloading Last Cycle's Application

A PDF of last cycle's application is only available if you submitted that application to at least one program. To download your application PDF,

    1. Log in to the current cycle's application.
    2. Click the Applicant Menu (person icon) in the lower-left of the application and select Application PDFs.
    3. Select the desired cycle.
    4. Click the download icon for the applicable application.
