What to Expect - Salesforce Connected Apps and PKCE Updates
A recently announced Salesforce update to Connected Apps introduces a requirement that impacts several TargetX solutions and has led to a delay in the May ’26 release. Specifically, Salesforce now requires packaged applications to support Proof Key for Code Exchange (PKCE) for enhanced security. To comply, we are updating all relevant packaged code across our solutions to incorporate PKCE, ensuring continued functionality for customers who enable this setting.
These changes are necessary to maintain compatibility and security alignment with Salesforce’s evolving standards. Below are the details on what to expect with these updates and the steps you can take to prepare.
What to Expect
The Online Application Online App PDF snapshot feature, located on the Settings page within the Online Application package, will require an upgrade to continue functioning. Institutions with one or both “Generate PDF snapshot” settings enabled will experience an interruption in this functionality until the upgrade is completed. Once the upgrade is complete, full functionality will be restored.
The Decision App Review PDF cache feature, configured on the Cache Admin page, will also be affected. This feature currently pre-generates application review PDFs for immediate access by reviewers. If the required upgrade is not in place, pre-generation will pause, and reviewers will need to generate PDFs on demand, which may result in slower performance.
After the upgrade, the PDF cache will resume processing and automatically catch up on any queued records.
Required Action / Recommended Preparation
If you are using the Online Application (PDF Application Snapshot) feature, you should review your current configuration on the Settings page and confirm whether either of the “Generate PDF snapshot” settings are enabled. If so, an upgrade will be required to prevent disruption to this functionality.
If you are using the Application Review PDF Cache, review the Cache Admin page to determine whether any associated batch jobs are enabled. If enabled, reviewers should be made aware that, without the upgrade, PDFs will need to be generated on demand and may load more slowly.
To minimize impact
- Plan to complete the required upgrade as soon as possible.
- Notify application reviewers of potential delays in accessing PDFs.
