Recipient Interactions FAQs
What types of activity data are recorded on recipient interaction records?
Click, open, opt-out, bounce, fail, and spam. For details, see Activity Metrics.
Can I report on this data?
Yes, these are Salesforce records related to the recipients, so that you can run Reports of Contacts/Leads/Relationships with Recipient Interactions. See Reporting on Recipient Interactions.
Can I build flows/automation on this data?
Yes, these are Salesforce records related to the recipients, so you could set up a flow or another automation that requires record/field information.
How can I see sent activity records?
You can view recipient lists in the activity center to see specific sending information and status updates for each sending. (link to activity center information)
In Fall 2026, we will release a similar data point that captures when a recipient began receiving content from a track. This will tell us when they became a member of a ‘track’, which is why it is called ‘Track Memberships’. More details will be released closer to that feature release.
How does enabling this feature impact my track management?
After a track has been started and recipient interactions have been enabled, you will not be able to delete a track, its steps, or its elements. Instead, you can archive tracks. This limitation ensures the recipient interaction data can sync successfully.
Can I disable Recipient Interaction for some tracks?
Yes. You can leave Recipient Interaction off for tracks where you do not need this level of tracking and turn it on for tracks where engagement based reporting and automation are important.
If a track ends, will I still receive recipient interaction data?
Yes, even if a track ended (yesterday, last week, last month, etc.) and someone interacts with an element, the activity will be recorded on the existing record.
How frequently does this data load into my CRM?
Recipient interaction data is loaded into your org in batches approximately every 6 hours.
Do I have to do anything to start collecting recipient interactions from my tracks?
Yes, if you have configured TargetX Communication Planner before May 2026, follow these steps for any tracks where you want to start collecting data:
For any tracks you wish to begin collecting data, you will need to:
- Deactivate the track.
- In the track’s email settings, turn on the recipient interactions toggle.
- Save and reactivate the track. Recipient interaction data begins syncing to your org within a few hours.
Are Recipient interactions available for quick messages?
No. Quick message interaction data is not available in the Reports tab in Communication Planner or in recipient interactions.
If you are new to Communication Planner as of May 2026, you will need to request TargetX Support to enable the recipient interaction sync before you can begin using the recipient interaction toggle in an org. Once this is done, enabling recipient interactions in track settings will create those records in your org.
