Developing a TX SMS Strategy

The steps in this article will lay out a hypothetical example to demonstrate one potentialstrategy, but obviously, you can adopt this to suit your needs. At the end of these steps, you should have a good idea of how many inboxes you need in TX SMS and how many numbers you should purchase inside Twilio to power those inboxes. 

  1. First, identify any departments that need collective inboxes, where end users will share responsibility for sending out and receiving messages. For TX University, we have decided that the only collective inbox will be a generic Admissions Inbox that will push out large-scale admissions reminders that anyone can respond to as messages come in. 

  1. Next, identify any individuals who need their own inbox for sending and receiving more personal messages. For TX University, we’ve decided that all 10 of our admissions counselors should have their own inboxes to build that personal relationship with their prospects. Also, we’ve decided that our five academic counselors should have inboxes to communicate with current students who need assistance with course selection. 

  1. So, for TX University, we’ll need 16 messaging services (1 for the Admissions Inbox and 15 for the individuals), all with one phone number each.
