Understanding TargetX Logging

Error logs are stored on the TargetX Log custom object installed as part of the Base package. Records can be deleted after a defined period of time, as specified in the Days to Keep Logs custom setting in TargetX CRM Base Settings. TargetX recommends 3-5 days.

NOTE: Logs can be manually deleted using a batch delete button on the Base Settings Page. To access this page, use the following URL, replacing the XX with your node number.

For North American customers, https://naXX.salesforce.com/apex/TargetX_Base__BaseSettings
For Sandboxes, https://csXX.salesforce.com/apex/TargetX_Base__BaseSettings

The TargetX Log records will capture the following information about an error:

  • Details of the error. The Details will include such information as “Object record cannot be updated: Account”
  • Product where the error occurred
  • Running User who experienced the error
  • Severity of the error

Note: For the system to create logs, user profiles must create and edit access to the TargetX Logs object.

Creating a tab to access the 'TargetX Log' object

  1. Navigate to Setup and search for Tabs.
  2. Under "Custom Object Tabs," click New.
  3. From the Object drop-down, select TargetX Log.
  4. Select any tab style of your choice.
  5. Press Next.
  6. Add to profiles - Select Default Off or Tab Hidden for all profiles except the profile that will be accessing the logs.
  7. Press Next.
  8. You can uncheck the Include Tab on all Apps and check the box next to an App if you want it appended.
  9. Uncheck "Append tab to users' existing personal customizations" if you do not want to modify users' custom tab settings and Save.

Additional Notes:

TargetX Logging will note if custom setting records are not established correctly in the CRM.

  • App Tracker Preferences: The system will accept either App Tracker Settings OR default as the setting record name. If neither exists, an error will be logged.
  • Recruitment Preferences: The system will accept either SRM Preferences OR default as the setting record name. If neither exists, an error will be logged.
  • TargetX CRM Base Settings: The system will accept Default OR default as the setting record name. If neither exists, an error will be logged.
