Testing your TargetX Online Application

Step 1: Sign Up

Sign Up page

  • Sign Up as a New User
    • Make sure to use an email NOT connected to your Salesforce email address.
  • How is the look and feel of the Sign Up page?
  • Was Captcha Set up and working?
  • Was the Thank you message clear?

Email

  • Did you receive the email?
  • What was the look and branding?
  • Was the wording clear?
  • Click the link to set up a new password

Change Password Page

  • Set a Password
  • Set a Password that contains the word 'password,' observe the error
  • Were you able to open the page?
  • Were the instructions clear?
  • Were you taken to the App Dashboard after?

Step 2: Complete Online Application

App Dashboard

  • Can you start a new application?
  • Are the Key Questions appearing?
  • Is the logic pushing you to the correct App Type and Term?
  • Create a New Application

Online Application Logic

  • Can you update your Application Type once in the App?
  • Do you see the correct cards in the railroad tracks?
  • How are the cards labeled?
  • Are your sections labeled as desired?
  • Can you identify the required fields?
  • Are you able to Save and Continue without completing the required fields?
  • Are all the fields that you need to be required marked as required?
  • Are cards not fully finished appearing as a half-moon on the railroad tracks?
  • Test your Checkbox fields
  • Test your Radio button fields
  • Test your Multi Select Picklists
  • Test your Text fields (Both short and text areas)
  • Test any fields that you have validation rules on
  • Test fields with conditional logic
  • Test the Address Widget 
    • Try using different countries to see how it's rendering
  • Test whole sections/cards that have conditional logic
  • Test the School Picker section
    • If there is an Unknown choice, does another field appear to ask the student for the Previous Institution's information?
  • Test all other fields, conditions, and cards that are specific to your Institution's build

Online Application Appearance

  • How are the Hero and Logo images appearing in the App Dashboard?
  • Is there any custom CSS that controls the coloring/fonts/appearance of the App?

Step 3: Submission of Application

Review

  • From the Review page, click edit for different sections of the App
  • Ensure you can go back in to edit any fields that were missed
  • Click Submit your Application

Verify Page

  • Do you have text on the Verification page?
  • Is it clear from an applicant's perspective?
  • Can you Sign and check off if it's all true?
  • Verify & Submit
  • Do you see a Thank you page?
  • Are you able to return to the App Dashboard?

App Dashboard

  • Do you see the 100% complete?
  • Can you Withdraw your Application?
  • Can you Start a New Application?
  • Can you Review your Submitted Application?

Step 4: End User Review of Application

  • Log in as an Internal End User who works with Application Data
  • Are the fields on the Contact/Student populated appropriately?
  • Are the fields on the Application populated appropriately?
  • Are records being generated for any child objects (repeatable cards within the application)?
  • Are there Source to Masters configured, and if so, are they firing correctly?

Step 5: Team Testing

  • Expand your testing to those outside the group that built the online application. Have a place to collect their feedback and provide instructions on testing. 

Step 6: Document Issues

  • Note any issues found in testing. 
  • Reference the feedback tracker with adjustments, concerns and alterations needed
