Payment Connector FAQ
- When does a new Payment ID get generated?
-
If a user's first payment attempt fails, they are directed to TargetX’s 'failure page' which has a ‘retry’ button. When selected, the next attempt will have a new, unique Payment ID.
Note: After using 'Retry', the student will need to use the back arrow button a few times to get back to their Online Application or they can Close the window and re-access the login URL.
- Are there any ‘timeouts’ in place when a user submits a payment to Nelnet?
- For Nelnet HPP, the TargetX Payment Connector doesn't impose any timeouts. Once the payer is sent to the Nelnet HPP website to fill out the payment form, Nelnet HPP has a 5 minute session timeout.
- How can I warn a user if they’ve already made a payment?
-
You can define a custom message for Touchnet payments, to warn a user if they’ve already made a payment (to prevent a duplicate payment). This message will display regardless of the Status of the new payment.
Configure Custom Labels (Touchnet ONLY)
- Navigate to Setup and search for Translation Settings and click Enable.
- Navigate to Setup and search for Custom Labels.
- Select ‘Touchnet Warning custom label’.
- Override the default label by clicking on the “New Local Translations / Overrides” button.
- For example, Our system indicates a previous attempt to make a payment was made. Please contact the Bursar’s Office at (610)555-1212 to confirm a payment was not posted.
- Save your changes.
