Creating a validation rule on Closed/Released Date for Holds (optional)

1. Navigate to Setup > Create > Objects.
2. Select the Advising object.
3. Under Custom Fields & Relationships, select the Closed/Released Date field.
4. Under Validation Rules, select New.
5. Enter a Rule Name and Description.
6. For the Error Condition Formula, enter:

TgtX_Retention__Closed_Released_Date__c > NOW()

7. Under Error Message, enter the message to display to the user, such as:

You can not enter a Closed Date in the future.

8. For Error Location, select whether to display the message at the Top of Page or below a specific Field. If Field is selected, choose the field to display the error below.
9. Save your changes.
