TargetX Trainer Success Factsheet
Overview
Throughout implementation, we’ve helped you configure TargetX tools to manage your enrollment, admissions, and retention processes. Now that you’re in the latter stages of implementation, it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll train your end users, which is essential to adoption. And that’s where TargetX Trainer Success comes in.
TargetX Trainer Success is an on-demand course of train-the-trainer sessions that prepare you to train your end users. Each lesson builds upon the last to gradually provide you (and other trainers) with strategies, tips, and resources you need to get your end users up and running.
How It Works
The 45-minute course covers the systematic instructional design process (called ADDIE), and steps you through Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and finally Evaluation of a training program. This course does not focus on product-specific knowledge. Therefore, before attending, you must complete the prerequisite Liaison Academy courses (outlined below) and have a working knowledge of your TargetX setup.
Why This Way
There are two primary reasons for this model:
- Historically, the project teams that are actively involved in implementation have more successful outcomes with timely launches and widespread user adoption. In short: participation creates value. Applying that same ideology to training enables a deeper understanding of how the TargetX product suite can contribute to your institution’s success.
- Because every institution configures and uses each of the CRM tools differently, it is essential that your end user training reflects the specific processes you have configured. With this train-the-trainer approach, you'll learn how to support your own training needs internally and enable your team’s ownership of onboarding, internal business process documentation, etc.
What You'll Receive
Materials you can use to design and tailor training for your institution are available from the TargetX Trainer Success Resources page. Training materials and resources include: objectives, sample agendas, planning worksheets, end-user slide training decks, end-user videos, and videos for adapting the training materials. These resources are geared toward end-user training.
Once you’ve pulled together everything you learned from the TargetX Trainer Success course, take some time to hold a pre-training check-in with your team. Use this session to review your training plan and make sure your strategy aligns with your goals before you start training your users. You can also walkthrough sample hands-on activities—like reporting exercises or a roundtable discussion—to be sure you’re covering the daily CRM tasks your different user groups handle.
Who Should Enroll
We recommend that 1-3 people from your institution complete the TargetX Trainer Success course. Remember that participants should:
- Complete the prerequisite Liaison Academy courses.
- Have a functional understanding of how their end users will interact with the product.
- Have access to make updates within their org.
- Plan to train the functional end users or contribute to the overall training plan. Generally, these are your Administrator or Power Users in the CRM.
Keep in mind that if you’re a multi-campus institution or have distinct groups of users who plan to employ the TargetX suite in different ways (e.g., undergraduate vs. continuing education vs. academic advisors), you may want to include the people on your team who are responsible for the maintenance and support of those users.
TargetX Trainer Success focuses on how to train your team, not how to use our products, so these sessions are not a good match for end users or first-time CRM users.
Agenda
TargetX Trainer Success uses the ADDIE Model as a road map to guide our sessions. By the end of the three sessions, you will have a deep understanding of the following:
- Who your learners are to accommodate their needs.
- How to create a formal training following our template.
- What are the best practices in training preparation and presentation.
- How to evaluate each training session and training program.
Section 1: The ADDIE Model
Introduction to the ADDIE Model, a framework for designing and delivering effective training programs.
Section 2: Analysis
We explore Adult Learning Theory and closely examine who our learners are. Session activities include understanding who the learners are and creating accommodations. Also, we'll analyze our learners by producing learner personas. Session 1 is for institutions that have begun implementation and know who their end users are.

Session activities include familiarizing team members with the resources provided and creating a lesson plan for end users' training. This session is for project teams planning to train end users within three to four months.
