Adding UChat to your Website

To enable UChat on your webpages, there are two steps that must be completed; Adding the UChat HTML embed code to your website code and adding the website's Domain to your settings.

You can add multiple iterations of UChat.  Connect with your Client Success Manager about pricing and common website locations (financial aid, housing, registrar, etc).

Step 1: Add the HTML Embed Code to your Website

During the implementation of UChat, your Implementation Consultant will provide you with the embedded code unique to your UChat instance during your working session on the tool. This code is used to direct UChat where to enable the widget. To add this block of code to your website's code, we suggest connecting with your Web Design and/or IT teams as this will likely require manual manipulation of your website's code.

Paste this HTML code snippet into the HTML of pages where you want to display the widget. Typically it's added to the <HEAD> tag, but it should work anywhere.

Should you need to access the UChat embedded code after implementation for use on additional webpages, you can reach out to TargetX Support via a case.

Step 2: Add the Website Domain to Settings

The Domain settings are where you specify the pages where you would like to display the UChat widget.

  1. Navigate to Settings in UChat.
  2. In the Domain section, specify your domain name.

Remember that for the Domain setting, you only need to provide the overall domain, not the specific page.

  1. Save your changes.

Step 3: Make sure you have an Active User with a completed Profile

Refer to the article Creating your UChat Profile.
