DICAS DPD Course List Form

These instructions only apply to applications for the Fall 2022 DICAS application.=

Overview

Download the DPD Course List Form.

Effective with the Spring 2015 Application cycle, the DPD Course List form is a required form. The intent of this form is to provide clarity to DICAS applicants on the courses that should be included in the Sessions and Coursework section of the application and to help applicants correctly classify the courses as either DPD Professional or Science courses.

DPD Directors must provide the completed form to the applicant, and the applicant must use the form to enter their DPD courses. They must then upload the form into the application in order to submit. This form allows DI Directors to cross-check and confirm that the coursework was categorized correctly in the Sessions and Coursework section of the application.

As all program directors are aware, curriculum changes occur in DPD programs based on ACEND standards. Therefore, DPD Directors should provide students and alumni with a DPD Course List form that corresponds to that student or alumni’s plan of study. DPD Directors should record the catalog year on which the applicant’s degree is based on the DPD Course List Form.

Process

The process for using the standardized DPD Course List form is as follows.

  1. The DPD Director will complete the DPD Course List form based on the program requirements for the catalog year in which the applicant’s degree is being evaluated, and will record the catalog year on the form. (In most instances, the catalog year is the year the applicant entered the DPD program, i.e., Fall 2012.)
    • If a program has more than one “track” or “option” to earn a DPD Verification Statement, the DPD Director will complete a course list for the “track” the applicant is completing or completed.
    • DPD Directors should provide alumni with DPD Course List Forms that correspond with the plan of study used when the alumni completed the program.
  2.  The DPD Director classifies all courses as either DPD Professional or DPD Science on the Course List Form. The guidelines for designating courses are listed below. Once completed, the DPD Director will provide the form back to the applicant.
    • If an applicant has taken a course at another institution that fulfills one or more courses requirements in the catalog, list only the required course from the catalog.
  3. The applicant must upload this completed form to their application in the DPD Course List Form section. They cannot submit the application without this form.
  4. The applicant must use the DPD Course List Form to enter courses in the Sessions and Coursework section of the DICAS application.
    • If an applicant has taken an approved course equivalent to any course listed on the DPD Course List Form (i.e., course taken at another institution, course taken as a special study, course content completed during an alternative program, etc.), the applicant will enter the name of actual course taken in the Sessions and Coursework section of the application exactly as it appears on his/her transcript(s). The DPD Director should not alter the DPD Course List Form for that applicant. It should be understood by DI Directors that applicants sometimes complete courses at “away” institutions or substitute equivalent courses to meet their DPD requirements. Therefore, some applicants will have courses listed in their Sessions and Coursework section that do not appear exactly the same as those listed on the DPD Course List Form. In these instances, DI Directors should assume that if the DPD Director has issued a DPD Verification Statement or completed the Declaration of Intent to Complete Statement, the courses listed on the application are acceptable equivalents.
