Mission Essays

Our mission, through the strength of our growing alliance and extended network, is to enhance diversity and inclusion in global business education and leadership by striving to reduce the significant underrepresentation of African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans in both our Member Schools’ enrollments and the ranks of global management across the following sectors: for-profit corporations, non-profit corporations, government agencies and contractors, and entrepreneurial ventures in both for-profit and non-profit environments.

Answer the three questions below in each of your essays. Use specific examples pertaining to our target populations and clearly articulate your involvement, actions, and results.

  1. What have you done pre-MBA in your business, personal, or academic life to demonstrate commitment to this mission? (2,000 characters)
  2. What will you do while enrolled in your MBA program to demonstrate your commitment to the mission? (2,000 characters)
  3. What will you do post-MBA with respect to community service and leadership involvement to demonstrate your continued commitment to The Consortium’s missions of diversity and inclusion? (1,000 characters)

Note that you are required to write at least one school-specific essay for each school that you plan to apply to. Schools only see their individual essays. To complete these essays, navigate to the Program Materials section to view each school’s supplemental page within your core application. You must enter your membership and school-specific essays within the provided fields, which have specified word limitations.

Requirements

  • Do not exceed the maximum length: You can see both the word and character count below the fields in the application. The right-hand number shows the maximum number of characters that you can use in your essay. As you type, you can see how many characters are still available and the associated word count. Characters include spaces, carriage returns, and punctuation. You cannot save your essay if it exceeds the character limit.
  • Use your own words: Plagiarizing any part of your essays is a violation of the code of conduct and may subject you to sanctions.
  • Use simple formatting: Formatting such as tabs, italics, multiple spaces, etc., will not be saved. To delineate paragraphs, type a double return between each paragraph.

Proofreading

Be sure to read over your essay several times to catch any spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc., errors before submitting. Once you submit your application, you cannot edit your essay. If you find an error after submission that you believe could have major effects on your application, we recommend sending a corrected copy directly to the programs you applied to.
