Sprint 1 – January 21, 2018
About These Release Notes
This document provides a summary of the new features and enhancements available in the Sprint 1 release. If you have any questions about these features, please contact your Account Manager.
New Features and Enhancements
Applicant Portal Enhancements
The following enhancements are available for the Applicant Portal as part of Sprint 1.
1. Extended Profile Feature Available
Note that this enhancement is a configurable feature option available to all CASs and UniCASs for the 2018- 2019 cycle. Please see your Account Manager for more information.
The Extended Profile feature enables CASs and UniCASs to create CAS-level custom questions that, based on an applicant’s responses, will impact the specific question tiles displayed to the applicant. These Extended Profile questions appear after an applicant initially creates an application and before they move to program selection.
2. Automatic CAS Fee Waivers
Note that this enhancement is a configurable feature option available to all UniCASs for the 2018-2019 cycle. Please see your Account Manager for more information.
This feature is for UniCAS clients that want to offer unlimited fee waivers over an entire cycle. Eligible UniCASs can now create a custom question that triggers an automatic fee waiver. If the applicant selects an answer to the question that deems them eligible for a fee waiver, then they will receive a fee waiver for all programs, without any Liaison or program involvement needed. If the applicant selects an answer to the question that does not deem them eligible for a fee waiver, then the automatic fee waiver will not apply.
3. Organization-Level Coupons
Note that this enhancement is a configurable feature option available to CASs and UniCASs that support Program Fees (Coupons) and do not use other fee structures (e.g., two-tiered fee structures) for the 2018- 2019 cycle. Please see your Account Manager for more information.
We are happy to announce that coupons for program fees in the Applicant Portal can now be designated for specific organizations within a CAS. If an organization offers a coupon to an applicant, that coupon can be used only for a program within that organization; it cannot be applied towards application fees for programs at another organization. If an applicant attempts to submit a coupon incorrectly, the Applicant Portal will alert the applicant to the error.
Organization-level coupons continue to meet the guidelines listed in the Application Coupon Reference Guide. This includes the following:
- The coupon total for an organization will not exceed the fee total for that organization.
- If the applicant’s coupon total equals a higher sum than the fee total, the applicant will forfeit the balance and not be able to apply it towards other organizations.
4. Conditional Custom Questions*
Note that this enhancement is a configurable feature option available to all CASs and UniCASs for the 2018- 2019 cycle. Please see your Account Manager for more information.
CASs and UniCASs can now create conditional custom questions in specific sections of the Academic History and Program Materials quadrants. Conditional custom questions allow the answer to one custom question to control the display of another custom question.
For example, if a CAS requires applicants to choose an Academic Department, Major, and Concentration, the applicant’s answer to the Academic Department will conditionally display the Major question. Their answer to the Major will then conditionally display the Concentration question.
Note: If you would like to use conditional custom questions for your program in the Program Materials quadrant, you will need to contact your Account Manager with this request. Conditional custom questions are not currently a selectable option in the Configuration Portal.
*This release note was updated on January 26, 2018, to clarify that a request must be submitted to your Account Manager if you would like to use conditional custom questions in the Program Materials quadrant.
Configuration Portal Enhancements
The following enhancement is available for the Configuration Portal as part of Sprint 1.
1. Configurable Evaluation Forms
Note that this enhancement is a configurable feature option available to all CASs and UniCASs that use Evaluations in the Configuration Portal for the 2018-2019 cycle. Please see your Account Manager for more information.
We are happy to announce that CASs and UniCASs using the Evaluations feature in the Configuration Portal can now choose to configure different evaluation forms which applicants can select from in the Applicant Portal. The CAS can determine which evaluation form types are available, and programs will have the option to use those forms when configuring the Evaluations feature in the Program Materials section.
WebAdMIT Enhancements
The following enhancement is available for WebAdMIT as part of Sprint 1.
1. New WebAdMIT Password Requirements
Note that this enhancement is immediately available for all CASs and UniCASs. No configuration is required.
When users create passwords for their WebAdMIT accounts, they must now adhere to all the standards listed below. Passwords must:
- Be 10 characters in length or longer,
- Contain at least 1 number or special character, and
- Avoid words or patterns that can be easily guessed (e.g., first name or company name).
Users who already have a password for WebAdMIT are not required to update it to these standards at this time.

Updates to College Coursework Credit Value Entries |
Winter |
For CASs that collect college coursework, the Applicant Portal will be updated to allow applicants to enter course credit values in one numeric field. This field will also limit applicants from entering more than two digits after a decimal. Currently, applicants are required to enter course credit values in two fields: a numeric field for the whole course credit and a drop-down including preset fractional values. |
