Finding Applicants from Your Institution

A key feature of the Universal Advisor Portal is its ability to filter applicants, allowing you to find the group you are looking for.

The List Manager allows you to establish a set of criteria and build a list of applicants who match these criteria. For example, you can create a list of all applicants whose legal state of residence is your state.

Primary College Indicators

When completing the CAS application, applicants enter their college and coursework history, then indicate which of the institutions they've entered is their Primary College.

This information is useful when analyzing applicants in your portal because, for example, it allows you to separate applicants who attended your institution just to take a few courses from those who obtained their primary degree there.

Only applicants who indicated your institution was their primary school appear in the Advisor Documents report.

You can also use the List Manager to isolate applicants based on their Primary College.

Filtering for Primary College in the List Manager

If you want to find all applicants who listed your institution as their primary college, you can use the List Manager to create a query.

  1. Start by creating a new list.
  2. Use the Click to Select Field dropdown to expand the College(s) Attended grouping, then select College Name - contains - [Name of Target School].
  3. Add a new filter for Primary College Attended? - equals - Yes.
    • This combination of filters identifies the applicants who indicated your target school was their primary college.

  4. Click Submit to finalize the list and review the matching applicants.
  5. If you'd like to export the list, click List Actions and select Export [List Name].

Filtering for Matriculated Applicants

Another key step in your process may be identifying applicants who have matriculated. This information is also available to query in the List Manager: 

  1. Start creating a new list.
  2. Use the Click to Select Field dropdown to expand the Designation grouping, then select Decision Code.

  3. Set your query to Decision Code - equals - Matriculated.

  4. Click Submit to finalize the list and review the matching applicants.
  5. Once the list is built, you can use it in Composite Lists or Exports.
