Transfer Progress

Overview

You can track your transfer progress on the Transfer Progress page. Key completion statuses include:

  • A2 and B4 Completed
  • Golden Four Completed
  • 30 Units Completed & Golden Four Completed: if you complete this status, we recommend you talk to your counselor about applying through the Cal State Apply application.

Calculating Your GPAs

CSU Transfer Planner uses the information you entered in the Academic History section to calculate your Transfer GPA. To calculate this GPA, each A-F or 0-100 grade you entered in the Grade field is first converted to a CSU Transfer Planner numeric grade value, then multiplied by the Units Attempted. The resulting product is Quality Points. Your total Quality Points are then divided by your Units Attempted to determine your GPA.

When you add or edit courses in the Academic History section, your Transfer GPA will automatically recalculate.

Other Notes:

  • The calculation includes all transferable coursework with passing grades. Units Attempted also includes standardized tests with passing scores that transfer in with credit.
  • Transferable courses include:
    • General Education (GE) courses.
    • Major prerequisites.
    • Courses you manually added and flagged as transferable.
  • Total Transfer Units Earned includes successfully completed transferable courses, planned/in progress transferable courses, and tests used for transfer credit.
  • Non-graded credits are not included in your GPAs. Non-graded credits are earned credits for which you did not receive actual letter grades (e.g., advanced placement credits, "pass" or "satisfactory" credits, college board AP exams, courses taken as pass/fail, etc.). Note: a grade of WF (i.e., equivalent of a withdrawn with penalty, withdrawn failing, etc.) is factored into GPA calculations as an F.
  • CSU Transfer Planner calculates all GPAs in semester hours. Courses that were completed in quarter hours are converted to semester hours. The conversion ratio is 1.0 quarter hour = 0.667 semester hours.
