Use an Existing Account to Re-Apply

Click to view details for the 2026-2027 cycle.

For 2026-2027 Cycle:

Overview

If you previously created a Living Profile account or GradCAS account, you have two options to start your GradCAS application:

  • Prefill your current GradCAS application from a previous GradCAS account.
  • Prefill your current GradCAS application using data from Living Profile.

If you have existing accounts in both Living Profile and GradCAS (such as a previous application), then we recommend you use your GradCAS account to prefill your current GradCAS application. You must use the same email address to prefill your application. To avoid processing delays and difficulties, do not create a new account. Duplicate accounts and any documents associated with those accounts are deleted.

If You Choose to Start a Fresh Application

The data from your previous application cycle is wiped clean and you proceed with a blank application.

If You Choose to Copy GradCAS Application Data

You can use an existing GradCAS account from a previous cycle to re-apply in the current cycle. You also keep the same CAS ID number from the previous cycle. When reapplying, note that you can:

  • Copy your application from the previous cycle to the next (for example, from the 2025–2026 cycle into the 2026–2027 cycle).
  • Skip a cycle and copy your application (for example, from the 2024–2025 cycle into the 2026–2027 cycle).
  • Skip several cycles between applications. However, application data is unavailable after three cycles of inactivity (for example, if you last applied in the 2022–2023 cycle, you cannot copy your application into the 2026–2027 cycle). This includes any transcripts or foreign coursework evaluations, where applicable.

Note that your programs may be able to see that you are a re-applicant.

Review the table below to learn which parts of the application you can choose to copy forward into the new application.

  1. Log in to the application. A welcome screen appears. Click Continue under Use data from a previous application to confirm that you want to begin the reapplication process.
  2. Review the reapplication workflow, then click Start Reapplication.
  3. Click the checkbox to confirm that you want to copy your previous application. After you click Confirm, you cannot start over with a new, blank application.
  4. Select the information you want to carry over. Unselected items will not carry over and cannot be recovered, so ensure your selections are complete before proceeding
  5. Click the checkbox to confirm your selections and your understanding that this action cannot be undone. Then, click Continue.
  6. Your selected data will begin copying to your new application. You'll receive an email when everything is copied over and you can continue your application. While the copy process usually takes a few minutes to complete, it can be up to a few hours. If it takes longer than 24 hours, contact customer service.

Unofficial transcript and foreign coursework evaluation uploads will be carried over into your new application. Note that these only carry forward a maximum of three application cycles. If you're reapplying for a fourth application cycle, you must upload new unofficial transcripts and foreign evaluations.

Official Test Scores

To successfully copy official test scores, the name and date of birth on your new application must match the name and date of birth on your original application. Note that it can take several days for the matching process to complete. If you have a difference in name and date of birth, contact customer service to have your scores manually copied into your application.

If You Choose to Copy Living Profile Data

If you previously created a Living Profile account, a system where you can connect your academic pursuits with your career aspirations, you can choose to prefill parts of your GradCAS account using your existing Living Profile account.

Information such as colleges attended, coursework, standardized tests, experiences, etc., will be copied into the GradCAS application.

  1. Verify your Living Profile account email address, which will also become the email address for your GradCAS account.
