Interpreting Medical Exam Score Results
For detailed guidance on interpreting medical examination scores, refer to the following resources:
- USMLE Scores: USMLE Score Interpretation Guidelines
- COMLEX Scores: Residency Program Director Toolbox
Note: ResidencyCAS receives official, source-certified USMLE data. While the score report may look different from how it appears in ERAS, the underlying data is the same. For reference, here’s the full statement from USMLE:
“The USMLE program provides official source-certified USMLE data to both ERAS and ResidencyCAS. Both residency services share this certified data, with permission from the applicant, with individual programs to reduce the burden on applicants, residency programs, and other stakeholders. Currently, the format of these data presentations is inconsistent between those application services. In 2026 and beyond the presentation format to these residency services will be standardized according to the recommendations of the USMLE program. For 2025, the USMLE program encourages residency programs and their institutions that require this data to consider the data formats in ERAS and ResidencyCAS as interchangeable.”
