File Sizes, Naming, Types, and Storage
Recording Size
Use 1280 x 720 if capturing on a desktop monitor. Use 1278 x 720 if capturing on a laptop.
Resolution
Exported videos should be at least 720 HD quality.
File Naming Conventions
- Use the following format for naming completed videos: CAS/Product_Topic_Month Year_Version (i.e., draft, final, etc.).
- If updating a video, add _Updated Month Year after the Version (e.g., AAPI_CAS 3.X Overview_June 2020_FINAL_Updated July 2020).
- If a video is not final, DRAFT should be included as part of the file name.
- If a video is final, FINAL should be included as part of the file name.
- Use underscores instead of spaces.
- Limit topic description in the file name to 3–5 words when possible (e.g., AAPI_CAS 3.X Overview_June 2020_FINAL_Updated July 2020).
- Date should correspond to the expected deadline release date.
Storage Best Practices
- Camtasia projects must be compressed and uploaded to the Videos folder on SharePoint. To compress the project files:
- On a Windows PC, use the Export Zipped Project feature.
- On a Mac, use the Save As feature.
- To transfer across platforms, use the Export Project for Windows/Mac feature.
- All final edited MP4 videos must be uploaded to the Videos folder on SharePoint.
- Create an Archive folder in the SharePoint folder where the video lives to store older versions of the video.
