ACT 2025-2026 Updates
Overview
The ACT Science section will become optional beginning with the April 2025 test. The data file remains largely unchanged, but there is one new field and new values being used as highlighted below. Technical updates will be unnecessary for most institutions.
The field names and locations of most commonly used ACT data (composite and/or section scores, etc.) remain unchanged. The changes highlighted in the file focus on how the Composite scores are calculated, either using four sections (ERMS—English, Reading, Math, Science) or three sections (ERM—English Reading, Math).
