Syncing your Outlook or Google calendar with TargetX Appointment Scheduler
To synchronize your Outlook or Google calendar with TargetX Appointment Scheduler, you can use one of the Salesforce solutions detailed below or choose to work with a Third Party provider.
Below you will find documentation and a comparison between tested solutions that work to simplify your management of appointment availability. These offer bi-directional syncing solutions, meaning events created in your Outlook/Google Calendar will appear in the Salesforce calendar, and events created in the Salesforce calendar appear in your Outlook/Google Calendar.
Note: The information in this guide pertains to calendar-syncing functionality only, even though these solutions may also support syncing other record types. Please consult the documentation for each to learn more about additional features.
How Calendar Syncing Works with Appointment Scheduler
- Connect your Outlook or Google account with your desired syncing solution.
- Configure your settings according to your chosen solution’s guidelines.
- Outlook/Google events will sync bi-directionally with the Salesforce Calendar.
- Events on the Salesforce Calendar will sync bi-directionally with the TargetX Appointment Calendar, which will update staff availability in the Appointment Scheduler.

Salesforce Lightning Sync
If your organization has used Salesforce before the Winter ‘21 release, you can use Lightning Sync for free to keep Outlook and Salesforce calendars synchronized. There is no end-of-life timeline for Lightning Sync; however, no new product enhancements will be introduced.
Salesforce Einstein Activity Capture
Starting in Winter ’21, Lightning Sync is not available to new Salesforce customers. This prevents teams from adopting the legacy Salesforce for Outlook calendar-syncing solution, which is scheduled for full product retirement in June ‘24.
Salesforce has introduced Outlook Integration and Einstein Activity Capture (EAC), which is the long-term solution for syncing contacts and events between Microsoft or Google applications and Salesforce. You can view a comparison between the legacy and next-generation products here.
Outlook Integration + Einstein Activity Capture will cover most standard calendar-syncing use cases, but this solution may not be included in your current Salesforce agreement. For additional information, see the Salesforce Help & Training article: Learn more about the support differences between Salesforce for Outlook and the next-generation products.
