TX SMS Pathways Model for Training (without bulk messaging)

Session Title

TX SMS for Financial Advisors

Learners

Financial Aid Advisors

Session Time

30-45 minutes

Rationale

A quick way for our financial advisors to reach out to students who have questions about their financial aid packages. We also want to make sure they check and log the contact record. This gives them visibility into the student's attitude or wonderings about their upcoming term.

Objectives

  • Review and update the contact record with necessary information: "Log an Activity"
  • Describe how to access and navigate TX SMS
  • Demonstrate how to send 1:1 message
  • Explain the opt-out and opt-back-in processes
    • Incorporate SMS best practices in your messages

Materials

  • MS Teams
  • Quick Start Guide
  • Assign Liaison Academy TX SMS Course
  • TX SMS access, Salesforce access and reviewing permission sets

Activities

  • Reviewing and updating contact record
    • Scavenger Hunt of finding Peppermint Patty and Woodstock
    • Update Peppermint Patty's by logging an activity
  • Reach out to Peppermint Patty to let her know that her financial aid package is being reviewed and you need some documents from them, then logging the activity.
  • Reach out to Charlie Brown that his financial aid package has been approved and that you will reach out by email with more details and next steps.
  • Brainstorm and create message templates that all financial aid officers use.

Evaluation and Feedback

Watching them to see if they can complete the activities. If time allows have them do teach backs: explaining the process to everyone (e.g., how they created the message templates). Checking their engagement with the tool to measure their attitude toward TX SMS.
