Citizenship Details

Select your citizenship status and country of citizenship, if applicable. If you have dual citizenship, indicate your second country of citizenship.

These are the statuses you can select in your application:

  • U.S. citizen or U.S. national: an individual who was born in the U.S. or its territories, born abroad to US citizen parent(s), or attained citizenship through naturalization.
  • U.S. dual citizen: a citizen of the United States and another country.
  • U.S. permanent resident (green card holder): an individual who holds a Green Card and is permitted to permanently live and work in the U.S.
  • Citizen of non-U.S. country:  international students who are foreign nationals, have a permanent residence abroad, and do not have a U.S. Permanent Resident Card.

If you are an international student currently residing in the U.S. and the citizenship status options do not apply to you, please select Citizen of non-U.S. country.

Your privacy is important to us. You are not obligated to respond to any optional questions in order to apply, and we will only use your data in the ways described in our Privacy Policy.

Individual colleges may have their own policies on how citizenship status is considered in admission or financial aid decisions. You can learn about a specific college's citizenship policies on their website.

Note: To ensure applicants are entering consistent data for some questions, this application uses pre-populated answer options that are maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). For example, country answer options are derived from ISO 3166, which is the international standard for country codes and codes for their subdivisions.
