Liaison

Release 1 – January 31, 2021

New Features and Enhancements

CAS Application Enhancements

Liaison’s suite of portals work together to help you collect and manage applications. The CAS application, also referred to as the CAS Applicant Portal, is the system where applicants find and apply to your programs. You receive these applications in WebAdMIT or Liaison Outcomes, where you perform your review processes. The appearance of your program and your requirements are customized in the CAS Configuration Portal, where you establish the program-specific elements that your applicants will interact with. Additionally, your program may use one or more of the following tools and platforms:

  • API: a data integration tool.
  • CAS Analytics by Liaison and Othot: advanced analytics solutions and data reporting tools.
  • CAS Applicant Gateway: a platform for applicants who have already submitted their CAS application to complete and upload additional materials requested by their programs.
  • CAS Liaison Letters: a platform for evaluators to submit their letters of recommendation.
  • Enrollment Marketing and TargetX: customer relationship management (CRM) systems for student lifecycle management.
  • Living Profile: a platform where students can connect their academic pursuits with their career aspirations.
  • SlideRoom: a platform for collecting digital portfolios.
  • Time2Track: a platform for tracking, verifying, and managing experiences.
CAS Personal Statement/Essay Prompt Included in Full Application PDF

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs that use the Personal Statement or Essay sections under the Supporting Information section. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.

Some CASs have a Personal Statement or Essay section under the Supporting Information section of the application, where applicants can enter an essay in response to a prompt, such as “Share a story of why you are interested in this profession’s career.” Previously, only the applicant’s essay was listed in the full application PDF, not the prompt. This led to some difficulties in remembering how the essay responded to the prompt.

With this enhancement, the essay prompt is now included before the essay in the full application PDF, available in Admissions by Liaison, the Applicant Portal, and WebAdMIT.

    Prelaunch Environment Banner

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.

If you or an applicant accesses the prelaunch environment  (i.e., a "staging" environment) of the application, you will now see a yellow banner at the top, stating that it is a testing environment.

CAS API Enhancements

The following enhancements are now available in the CAS API. All enhancements are automatically available to all CASs and participating programs using the CAS API. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. If you have any questions about these features, contact your Account Manager or support

Social Security Number (SSN) Encryption Keys

The CAS API now supports multiple Social Security Number (SSN) encryption keys per organization. The encryption key is specified in a new, optional request parameter, X-API-PUBLICKEYID. This can be passed to Application APIs or as a response option in Subscription APIs.

Note that you must provide Liaison your public key before you can use this feature. Once the public key is installed, SSNs will be encrypted through an hourly batch process, and you can use the request parameter to retrieve the encrypted SSNs.

Data Hold for Select Application Statuses

If you are a CAS Subscription API client, you can now use a new dataHold request property that suppresses data delivery for one or more application statuses (e.g., In Progress, Received, Verified, etc.). This helps you pull data for only the application statuses you need.

New CAS API and SlideRoom Properties

The CAS API application response model now includes the following properties:

  • programsSelected.completionDate
  • programsSelected.programLORsReceived

If you participate in SlideRoom, you can also use these new CAS API properties:

  • slideRoomInfo.id
  • slideRoomInfo.programSelectedId
  • slideRoomInfo.slideRoomApplicationId
  • slideRoomInfo.submitted
  • slideRoomInfo.submittedDate
  • slideRoomInfo.firstSubmittedDate
  • slideRoomInfo.createdDate
  • slideRoomInfo.updatedDate

WebAdMIT Enhancements

Transfer Settings Feature Available to Institution Managers Only

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.

With this enhancement, you can only initiate the Transfer Settings feature, where templates from a previous cycle are carried forward into the new WebAdMIT cycle, if you are listed as an institution manager and are in the WebAdMIT Administrators Work Group.

Previously, any user with the Configure Software permission set in their Work Group could initiate the Transfer Settings feature.

This enhancement ensures that the main user at an institution who typically has access to most, if not all, templates, is the user transferring templates forward. For more information about the Transfer Settings feature, including best practices, review our Transfer Settings Guide.

New Documentation

Shared Lookup Table Updates for Spring 2021

April 4, 2021

Many fields in the Applicant Portal contain predefined answer values that applicants can select; for example, the Country and County fields both have predefined answer values. These values are housed in shared "lookup tables" which are viewable in your CAS's/UniCAS's Custom Export Layout (CEL) file (located under Help in WebAdMIT).

Lookup table change requests should be sent to your Account Manager, who will compile and review these requests prior to inclusion in the next lookup table update taking place this spring. The deadline to submit change requests was January 13, 2021. New lookup table values will appear in the Applicant Portal on April 4, 2021.

For guidance on optimal implementation of the new lookup tables, please review the timeline and additional information in the Shared Lookup Table Updates for Spring 2021 page.
