Managing Opt-Outs and Invalid Emails

Opt-Outs

You can check to see if a student has opted out of communication two ways:

  1.  Use the search bar to find the student. If they've opted out, it will be noted at the top of their Student Record.
  2. You can also export a list of all unsubscribed students from your EMP Settings. To export all unsubscribed students:
    • Click Account in the top navigation bar and EMP Settings from the drop-down menu.
    • Click Email Opt-outs on the side navigation. You’ll be directed to a page with all of the opt-outs in your EMP instance.
    • Click Create Export to build your Export. Under the Data Source grouping, click Student List and select Email Opt-outs. Then, choose the fields you want to export.
    • Click Save and Export, and your export will appear in the notification square in the top left corner of the navigation bar.
    • Click the Export to download and open it on your computer.   

You can manually opt-out a student on a student record. Navigate to their email, click the opt-out icon, and add a reason (if any). You’ll see the student’s email is now red and there is a notification at the top of their record. If a student erroneously opted out of communication and wants to opt back in, navigate to the student record and click the link to opt the student in. 

Invalid Emails

If a student isn’t receiving your emails, it could be that their email has been flagged as invalid. You can check this on the Student Record.  To look at invalid emails on a larger scale:

  1. Navigate to EMP Settings, then Invalid Emails.
  2. Click on a column to alphabetize it, then scroll to find the student.

You can also build an export to review invalid emails in Excel. To export invalid emails:

  1. Navigate to EMP Settings, then Invalid Emails.
  2. Click Create Export to build an export of the list.
  3. Under the Data Source grouping, click Student List, and select Invalid Emails.
  4. Choose the fields you want to export.
  5. Click Save and Export and your export will appear in the notification square on the navigation bar.
  6. Click the export in the notification square to download and open it on your computer.   

To remove an invalid email address from a student record, contact a member of your account team.
