We're excited to welcome your program to the ResidencyCAS community. This move is a big step toward streamlining and modernizing your application and interview processes.

As you review the information below, remember that our support team is here to help throughout your ResidencyCAS experience.

Onboarding Checklist

This guide is designed to help your program smoothly transition into the ResidencyCAS system. It outlines the key steps and resources program directors and coordinators need to complete setup, update program visibility, and prepare for application review.

Step 1: Configure Your Program in ResidencyCAS

In the ResidencyCAS application, applicants will see a description of your program. Complete the ResidencyCAS Program Information Form and provide your program details – these will appear in the applicant portal along with links to FREIDA and EMRA Match, helping candidates learn more about your program before they apply.

Once your program information is updated, you can preview it from the applicant’s perspective. Log into the ResidencyCAS Program Portal Sandbox Environment and click the information icon in the left menu. This will display a test login for accessing the Applicant Portal, allowing you to view your program’s profile as applicants will see it during the application process.

Step 2: Register ResidencyCAS with NRMP

When completing your annual NRMP registration, be sure to select ResidencyCAS as your application platform for both the Main Match and SOAP. This ensures that applicants and NRMP correctly associate your program with ResidencyCAS during the match process.

Step 3: Attend Training Sessions

We strongly encourage attending our live training sessions. These cover:

  • System navigation.
  • Managing program preferences.
  • Reviewing applications and signals.
  • Interview scheduling tools.
  • Common FAQs for EM programs.

You’ll find registration details below. All sessions are recorded and available for on-demand viewing at your convenience.

    Step 4: Set Yourself Up for Success! 

    To prepare for application review, we recommend completing the following key tasks in the order listed. We also highly recommend that the program director and coordinator schedule time to meet and review the portals together before applications become available.

    Application Review: Preparation Tasks

    We recommend you complete these tasks in June/July.

    1. Review the Applicant Quick Start Guide to get familiar with the application. It's also helpful to review key application cycle dates.

    1. Review the Program Portal Quick Start Guide to get familiar with application review tools. 

    PD/PC
    1. Use the ResidencyCAS Program Portal Sandbox Environment to explore features and test workflows covered in training and throughout the guides in this help center. Your sandbox login uses your email address and the default password exploreresidencycas (unless you reset it). Once logged in, navigate to the Users section and confirm that your program director and coordinator are correctly assigned to their roles. If you need access or are experiencing firewall/login issues, contact us for assistance. 
      • Important reminders: 
        • Login credentials are for internal training and preview only. They should be used in accordance with ResidencyCAS access guidelines and must not be shared outside your program’s leadership (e.g., students, other specialties, or individuals outside of medicine).
        • Any users added or program configurations made in the sandbox environment – including segments, filters, or scoring rubrics – will not carry over to the live production system. These items must be recreated in the live environment. The sandbox is for testing purposes only.

    Application Review: Configuration Tasks

    We recommend you complete these tasks in July/August.

    1. The live (i.e., production) Program Portal opens on July 1, 2025. Once available, log in and begin setting up key application review tools, including:

    1. In the live environment, configure roles (i.e., permissions and data visibility) and add all new users. 
      • Important reminder: only the program director and program coordinator receive access to the live environment. Users from the sandbox will not carry over and must be added in the live environment.
