Important CRM Considerations with PDF Caching

API Usage

API calls are used to create the application PDF.  API limits are set using rolling 24-hour limits.  It is strongly recommended that your CRM Admin set up API Usage Notifications to monitor API usage during your review season.

To set up API Usage Notifications:

  1. Navigate to Setup and search for API Usage Notifications.
  2. Select New.
  3. Add a Notification Recipient (e.g., your CRM Admin).
  4. Add a Threshold.  We recommend 60%.
  5. Add a Notification Interval (Hours).  We recommend the default value of 24.


An API threshold can be set in the PDF Merging Service Custom Settings.

Storage Usage

Because caching saves cached PDFs to the CRM, it is strongly recommended you determine how File Storage will be impacted.

  1. Estimate the average size of your application PDFs.
  2. Estimate the number of Application Review records that will be cached.
  3. Multiply 1 and 2 to estimate how much File Storage you will need to enable PDF caching.


Once caching is enabled, File Storage should be monitored to ensure your CRM has enough capacity for the cache attachments.  To monitor storage, go to Setup and search for Storage Usage and note the File Storage usage.
