Testing that custom object merge fields show up in your email message
The best way to truly test is by doing what we call a Live Test:
- Create a test record(s) with all of the pertinent fields populate.
- Create and send an email campaign to the test record(s).
- Be sure your test record has a valid email address that you can check.
- When you send the broadcast you'll see all of the merge field data.
Note: If your email template includes merge fields from a child record, and the Contact or Lead has more than one record for that child object, the test email will randomly pick the merge fields from one of the child records. This will allow you to test the appearance of the template. In order to test that the correct child record data is inserted into the template, you will need to create a broadcast.
