Creating a TEXT field to store Group Assignments on the Contact record

  1. Navigate to Setup and select the Object Manager.
  2. Select the Contact object, and then the Custom Fields & Relationships section, select New.
  3. Select a Data Type of Text.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Enter a Field Label [Group Assignment], Length [80], and Field Name [Group Assignment]. 
  6. Select Next.
  7. For each Profile listed, indicate the Field Level Security. 
  8. Select Next.
  9. Select any Page Layouts where the field should be added.
  10. Select Save.

Note: Each additional object that you add to the Group Assignment Builder must have a Group Assignment field created on the object.
