TargetX Glossary and Acronyms

Understanding the terminology used throughout TargetX and Salesforce is key to navigating the platform effectively. This glossary provides quick definitions for commonly used terms, acronyms, and platform-specific language in the Help Center and product interface. Whether you're new to TargetX or need a refresher, this guide supports learning and daily use.

Term Definition
Application Programming Interface (API) Used for integrations between TargetX and other platforms.
Application Review Tool (ART) Module used to review, rate, and process student applications.
Breadcrumb Navigation aid showing the user’s page path.
Communication Planner (CP) Tool for automating and scheduling communications. For details, see Communication Planner Overview.
CRM Customer Relationship Management; TargetX is a CRM for higher education.
Education Data Architecture (EDA)

The Salesforce framework, previously known as Higher Education Data Architecture (HEDA), is utilized to model and manage student data within educational institutions. 

Flow Salesforce automation tool to create custom workflows to streamline business processes through a visual interface.
Funnel Recruitment stages: Prospect → Applicant → Admit → Enroll.
Matriculation Official enrollment of a student.
Modal Pop-up window that requires user interaction.
Object A table of data in Salesforce, e.g., Contact, Opportunity.
Page Layout Controls the layout of fields on object detail pages.
Picklist

A predefined dropdown menu that lets users select a single value from a list of options for a field.

Short Message Service (SMS) TargetX's integrated texting system.
Single Sign-On (SSO) Authentication method for user access.
Student Information System (SIS) External system used to store institutional student data.
TargetX (TX) The CRM platform built on Salesforce for higher education admissions and engagement.
Toggle A switch that turns settings on or off.
Validation Rule Logic that prevents users from saving incorrect data.
Workflow Rules for automating actions in Salesforce.
Yield Percentage of admitted students who enroll.
