Technical Alert: Enhanced Domain Scanner – Incorrect Updates Possible

We have been made aware that for some clients the Enhanced Domain Scanner (released in August '22 ) can pick up and recommend changes to links that are incorrect. 

Who is impacted? 

Any client who has a SitesSubdomainName that matches their MyDomainName or has an ExperienceCloudSitesSubdomainName that matches their MyDomainName. These names are determined and set when configuring Enhanced Domains or My Domain. 

What is the impact?

The URL scanner will identify URLs that should be updated for Enhanced Domains, but the updated URL values can be incorrect. In the audit tool, this will display erroneous updates. All 4 scanner tools (Portal, Events, TX Email, and Salesforce email) are impacted. If the updater is run, it will make incorrect updates that we do not have the ability to reverse programmatically.  While you may still run the scanning tools, do not run the update functionality if you meet the impact criteria – and please thoroughly review any recommendations before making changes. 

What is the Remedy? 

 There is a fix currently being worked on in Base Package that is expected to be available in the November release. When an impacted client is updated to this new package, the updated URL scanners will provide the correct URL updates for enhanced domains.
