Technical Alert: TargetX Update re Upcoming Salesforce Enhanced Domain and Flow Requirements

As you’ve likely seen, Salesforce has two major updates planned in the coming year regarding Salesforce Enhanced Domains and Flows

Salesforce is requiring Enhanced Domains for all Salesforce orgs beginning in January 2023 with the  Salesforce Spring ‘23 Release. While this simplifies URLs for your online application site, event site, etc., it will cause some changes for your org. Salesforce will redirect URLs for the first year after this update is enforced. Many of the links you’re using today will continue to function as expected for the following year, though there are a few updates you’ll need to take care of before February 2023. We will release a new Base package in August 2022. If you are using Communities or Payment Processors, you’ll need to upgrade to this package. A script included in the package will allow you to create Enhanced Domain versions of all Site records related to Community Themes. There will also be some manual updates needed for those who use our Payment Connectors, as well as updates for Google Recaptcha.

After Enhanced Domains are enforced by Salesforce, redirects will be in place for one year. Additional considerations will need to be made in that year to update any hardcoded URLs (including references you may have on your website, in emails, etc.). We will have scripts to both audit and update conflicts in the Base, Events, and Email packages to update Portal Configurations, Events, Classic Email Templates, and TargetX Email Templates. Documentation with instructions for updating URLs in places that are not able to be scripted will also be provided. We expect these scripts to be available by September 2022, at which time you will need to upgrade these packages to run the scripts after enforcing Enhanced Domains. We encourage you to test these scripts in a Sandbox prior to running in Production. We are not able to provide documentation on updating URLs for your website or in any custom URL fields as these vary on a per client basis. The Premier Services team will be contacting Premier clients directly to schedule the necessary upgrades and URL updates, and also provide guidance on changes necessary for Payment Connectors and Recaptcha.

Salesforce Flow will replace Workflows and Process Builders in the Salesforce platform. After the end of 2022 no new Workflows will be able to be built in a Salesforce org. Existing Workflows will not be impacted at this time and can continue to be maintained (edited). Existing TargetX clients will be able to continue to use their CRM as they do today and will be able to make updates to the Workflows and Process Builders that already exist in their org; only new automations would require the use of Salesforce Flow. We are aware that there is a button showing for users to encourage/allow you to move all of your existing automations to Flow. Please do not push the button at this time. While Salesforce has indicated that the Create button will go away ‘near the end of 2022’ there is not an immediate need for full conversion at this time. Premier Services clients may request new automations be built in Flow.
