Release 6 – June 21, 2020

About These Release Notes

This document provides a summary of the new features and enhancements available in Release 6. If you have any questions about these features, please contact your Account Manager.

New Features and Enhancements

Applicant Portal Enhancements

The following enhancements are available for the Applicant Portal as part of Release 6.

New High School Attended Section Option

This enhancement must be approved by the CAS association or UniCAS client for use in the next cycle. If activated, this enhancement is available for all participating programs. CAS association and UniCAS clients: contact your Account Manager for more information or to enable this feature.

A new, simplified version of the High School Attended section is now available. Applicants do not need to enter their terms attended in this version. Additionally, if the CAS does not collect high school coursework, then no reminder message to enter coursework appears.

    Improved Program Selection Rules

This enhancement must be approved by the CAS association or UniCAS client for use in the next cycle. If activated, this enhancement is available for all participating programs. CAS association and UniCAS clients: contact your Account Manager for more information or to enable this feature.

Previously if a CAS limited applicants to select only one program per term, applicants could not change their program selection. With this enhancement, applicants can select a new program. They are still restricted to only applying to one program per term.

CAS API

The following enhancement is available for the CAS API as part of Release 6.

    Support HTTP Headers

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.

The CAS API now supports user-definable HTTP headers for HTTPS-based Subscription destinations. This allows you to configure authentication keys or other information in the API response that the receiving HTTP server needs from the Subscription APIs.

Letters by Liaison Enhancements

The following enhancement is available for Letters by Liaison, the Recommender Portal, as part of Release 6.

    Recommender Profession Details

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.

  • Organization
  • Job title
  • Phone number

WebAdMIT Enhancements

The following enhancements are available for WebAdMIT as part of Release 6.

Report Templates Included in Transfer Settings

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.

Report Manager templates are now included in Transfer Settings. If the report is linked to a list that does not exist in a new cycle, the report will use the Everyone default in the List drop-down. Additionally, if the report is linked to Work Groups that do not exist in the new cycle, those Work Groups will be removed from the report template. Review the Transfer Settings Guide for more information and best practices. As with any template carried forward using Transfer Settings, remember to review the templates in the new cycle to ensure accuracy and make changes, as needed.

    States Drop-down Reordered

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact your Account Manager for more information.

To improve workflow, the State drop-down in the Search page is updated to list US states and DC first alphabetically, then international states alphabetically.

Shared Lookup Table Updates for Fall 2020

September 13, 2020

Many fields in the Applicant Portal contain predefined answer values that applicants can select; for example, the Country and County fields both have predefined answer values. These values are housed in shared "lookup tables" which are viewable in your CAS's Custom Export Layout (CEL) Files.

New lookup table values will appear in the Applicant Portal on September 13, 2020.

For guidance on optimal implementation of the new lookup tables, please review the timeline and additional information in the Shared Lookup Table Updates for Fall 2020 page.
