Removing Student Records

To manage unengaged students, you can choose to deactivate or delete a student record. Deactivating a record is less severe than deleting a record:

Effects on a Student Record

  • Student is denied access to their PURL.
  • Will no longer appear on any student list but will still be searchable.
  • Excluded from email communications.
  • Will continue to be considered for resolving system duplicates.
  • Student importer will continue considering deactivated records and will not create this record again.
  • Excluded from additional rep assignment changes.
  • Includes the option to re-activate the student in the future.
  • The PURL is deleted and becomes available for future students.
  • No longer searchable nor appears on any student list.
  • Excluded from email communications.
  • Will not be considered for resolving system duplicates.
  • Student importer will continue considering deleted records and will not create this record again.
  • Excluded from additional rep assignment changes.

Note: if a student record is deleted from EMP, all of the associated data, such as email metrics, event metrics, etc., are also deleted from EMP, leaving incomplete data. It is not recommended to delete student records from EMP. 

To perform either action, navigate to the Student Record and click Actions to proceed:
