Release 4 – May 12, 2024

New Features and Enhancements

Cross-Portal Enhancements

Liaison’s suite of portals work together to help you collect and manage applications. The CAS application, also referred to as the CAS Applicant Portal, is the system where applicants find and apply to your programs. You receive these applications in WebAdMIT or Liaison Outcomes, where you perform your review processes. The appearance of your program and your requirements are customized in the CAS Configuration Portal, where you establish the program-specific elements that your applicants will interact with. Additionally, your program may use one or more of the following tools and platforms:

  • API: a data integration tool.
  • CAS Analytics by Liaison and Othot: advanced analytics solutions and data reporting tools.
  • CAS Applicant Gateway: a platform for applicants who have already submitted their CAS application to complete and upload additional materials requested by their programs.
  • CAS Liaison Letters: a platform for evaluators to submit their letters of recommendation.
  • Enrollment Marketing and TargetX: customer relationship management (CRM) systems for student lifecycle management.
  • Living Profile: a platform where students can connect their academic pursuits with their career aspirations.
  • SlideRoom: a platform for collecting digital portfolios.
  • Time2Track: a platform for tracking, verifying, and managing experiences.

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

Optionally Require Unofficial Transcript and Foreign Evaluation Uploads Before Submitting Applications

For CASs that allow programs to configure their transcript and foreign evaluation requirements, this enhancement is automatically available for use. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

For CASs that request CAS-level unofficial transcript and foreign evaluation uploads, this enhancement must be approved by the CAS association or UniCAS client for use in the current cycle. If activated, this enhancement is available for all participating programs. CAS association and UniCAS clients: contact a member of your account team for more information or to enable this feature.

CASs and programs can request applicants upload an unofficial copy of their transcripts or foreign evaluations in the Colleges Attended section of the application. Currently, applicants can submit these unofficial transcripts or foreign evaluations either before or after they submit their application.

With this enhancement, CASs and programs can require applicants to upload an unofficial transcript or foreign evaluation before they submit their application. This allows programs to have a more complete application to review and removes the work of programs following up with applicants to request these documents.

CAS Applicant Portal

Under the Colleges Attended section, applicants can upload their unofficial transcript or foreign evaluation. If the CAS or program requires applicants to upload these documents before submitting their application, and the applicant has not already done so, then the Submit Application tab will display a warning and prevent the applicant from submitting to that program.

If a CAS or program does not require applicants to upload these documents, or requires them to request official copies, then the applicant can continue to submit their application to those programs.

Configuration Portal

If your CAS allows you to select your program transcript requirements, you can select the Require the applicant to upload their unofficial transcript before they can submit to your program toggle to require the unofficial transcript upload before the applicant submits their application to you.

Evaluation Type Name in Email Templates

This enhancement must be approved by the CAS association or UniCAS client for use in the next cycle. If activated, this enhancement will be available for all participating programs in the next cycle. CAS association and UniCAS clients: contact a member of your account team for more information or to enable this feature.

Some CASs have evaluation types, which are recommendation forms customized to a field, degree level, or recommendation type (e.g., recommendation for master's degree applicants, recommendation with a letter upload only, etc.). With this enhancement, the following email templates can include the evaluation type name within the email body, so that applicants and recommenders are reminded of which type of recommendation the recommender has already completed:

  • Evaluator Submission Response to Applicant (sent to applicants in the CAS Applicant Portal)
  • Evaluator Submission Response to Evaluator (sent to recommenders in Liaison Letters)

CAS API Enhancements

The following enhancements are automatically available for the CAS API, and no action is required on the part of any school or program. If you have any questions about these features, contact support.

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

CAS API Supports On Hold, Undelivered, and Academic Update Statuses

If applications transition into the On Hold, Undelivered, or any of the Academic Update (AU) statuses (e.g., AU In Progress, AU Received, etc.), then new and existing subscriptions with applicable event types will now deliver applications and documents to your destination.

Applicant-reported GMAT Focus Scores Available in CAS API

Applicant-reported GMAT Focus scores are now available in the CAS API under the existing JSON node academicHistory -> tests -> reported -> GMAT. Additionally, a new typeOfTest property is available to help distinguish between the GMAT and GMAT Focus tests. When you enter GMAT or GMAT FOCUS in this new property, it returns only data for that specific test type.

Liaison Outcomes Enhancements

The following enhancements are now available in Liaison Outcomes. If you have any questions about these features, contact a member of your account team or support.

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

Enhanced Exporting Functionality

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

In an effort to make exports faster, more stable, and more efficient, we’ve enhanced the Exports tool in Outcomes. These behind-the-scenes changes include:

  • Optimized scaling
  • Improved export logging and monitoring

Along with this enhancement, export history will now remain in Outcomes for 90 days.

User Interface Enhancements

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

To make the user interface more accessible, we’ve made several UI enhancements. These include easier-to-read buttons, less scrolling, more mobile compatibility, and added tool tips for the Events Portal.

Additionally, in the Student Portal, the following changes have been made:

  • A new * = indicates required fields tool tip on forms was added.
  • Asterisks were added next to table sections with at least one required question.
  • Clearer instructions were added around portfolio requirements.
Enhanced Events Functionality

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

Several improvements have been made to the Events module, including:

  • Enhanced event-editing functionality. With this enhancement, you can edit specific occurrences in an event. For example, if you have a recurring event and need to edit the start time for just one occurrence, you can now make this change without adjusting the entire series.
  • Added six-month and 12- month filters on the Events grid. This enhancement gives you more options when filtering which events appear while you review the Events grid.

Conditional Visibility on Applicant Form Questions

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

Conditional visibility is now featured in Applicant Forms for public program properties. When working with forms in Outcomes, Conditional visibility allows you to configure questions, answer options, or entire forms to only be visible when specific criteria are met. This can be used in several ways. For example, when configuring programs, you can hide questions from applicants depending on which program term they are applying to. This allows you to use the same form for multiple programs, while still including questions that are unique to each program.

TargetX Enhancements

TX Forms

Base Version 2405.18

  • TX Forms includes an Application form type to allow for the creation of forms related to a student, their application, and any supporting objects of either. For more information, see Creating TX Forms.
  • TX Forms incorporates repeatable sections, allowing a single section to display multiple times to gather multiple records and streamline the building of TX Forms. For more information, see Creating TX Forms.
TargetX Resolved Defects

Applicant Dashboard (Version 2405.0)

  • (CL-2116) The Decision Viewed Date/Time field is only updated the first time a student views their Decision Letter. Previously, the Decision Viewed Date/Time field would update each time a user chose to view their Decision Letter.
  • (CL-2013) Application deadlines are accurately adjusted to accommodate the end of Daylight Saving Time. Previously, if a deadline fell after the conclusion of Daylight Saving Time, the system would inaccurately display the deadline.

Application Review (Version 2405.0)

  • (CL-1875) Application review permissions that revoke read access to the Applicant Name on the Application Review object are now respected. Previously, the applicant’s name would still be visible even after access was removed.

Events (Version 2405.8)

  • (CL-1883) When long comments are entered into a Custom Question, a message now indicates that the answer must be 255 characters or fewer. Previously, if a comment exceeded 255 characters, users would receive an 'upsert failed' error without any guidance.
  • (CL-2112) In Events Settings, you cannot select Master for the School Picker Record Types setting. Previously, setting the School Picker Record Types to Master caused the School Picker to return no results on Events forms.
  • (CL-2113) Recaptcha has been returned to Event TX forms and can be completed by all mobile users. Previously, when reCAPTCHA on mobile displayed the ‘select the images that contain <item> mode,’ the images did not appear correctly.
  • (CL-2118) The Location question in the Appointment Scheduler shows the correct location based on the person URL parameter. Previously, it showed multiple locations based on availability for the selected reason.
  • (CL-2127) Custom questions for events that exceed the mobile screen's length will now wrap the text. Previously, long custom questions required horizontal scrolling.
  • (PD-6500) The Student-facing Events Site displays text, logos, and alignment accurately. Previously, there were various formatting issues, including enlarged text and misaligned elements.

Online Application (Version 2405.0)

  • (CL-1961) Fields utilized in visibility conditions remain unaffected after saving the application. Previously, these fields would revert to their previous values after being updated.
  • (CL-2013) Application deadlines are now accurately adjusted to accommodate the end of Daylight Saving Time. Previously, if a deadline fell after the conclusion of Daylight Saving Time, the system would inaccurately display the deadline.
  • (CL-2072) When Prevent Multiple Applications is enabled in App Config, the Start a New Application button prohibits initiating a new application. Previously, clicking this button would redirect users to the Online App Home page and they could create a new application.
  • (CL-2084) Verification and Post Submission Page Content for Application Forms now maintains font formatting. Previously, customizing these pages did not retain font formatting.

Portal (Base Version 2405.18)

  • (CL-2013) Application deadlines are now accurately adjusted to accommodate the end of Daylight Saving Time. Previously, if a deadline fell after the conclusion of Daylight Saving Time, the system would inaccurately display the deadline.
  • (CL-2116) The Decision Viewed Date/Time field is only updated the first time a student views their Decision Letter. Previously, the Decision Viewed Date/Time field would update each time a user chose to view their Decision Letter.
  • (PD-5969) The application decision can no longer be reverted if the student is accepting an offer when the decision is changed. Previously, if a student logged in and the Application Decision was subsequently altered, their next login would revert to the previous value.

Retention (Version 2405.1)

  • (CL-1927) The Advising Category/Type picklist reflects both record type and controlling/dependent field dependencies. Previously, it only reflected the controlling/dependent field dependencies.

WebAdMIT Enhancements

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

Applicant Specific Deadline Filter on Search Page

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

You can now search by the Applicant Specific Deadline field on the Search page. This field lists the applicant’s specific deadline date if your program configures multiple deadlines. If the applicant received an individual deadline extension, the new deadline date displays in this field. Additionally, all filter fields on the Search page have hover text that describes each field. These enhancements empower you to more easily find and filter applicants.
