Suspended Applicants/Pharmacy Residency Exemption Process

PGY1 Suspensions

Your application to a PGY1 residency program may be suspended if the pharmacy school you attended is foreign and/or not ACPE-accredited. When you indicate this in the Program Year Information section, PhORCAS reviews your application to determine eligibility. To correct your application, you must provide one of the following:

  • US Pharmacy License
  • FPGEC (Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Certificate). This certificate is from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and proves the applicant is eligible to take the pharmacy exams to become licensed as a Pharmacist in the US upon completion of the program.
  • Proof of passing the FPGEE (Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Evaluation) AND proof of passing the TOEFL iBT
  • Proof of enrollment in an accredited US Pharm D program and proof that you are eligible for licensure in the US

Correcting Your PGY1 Application

Once you receive notification that your application is suspended, you will be logged out of the application and brought to a screen where you can submit the supplemental information listed above.

  1. Click Upload Document.
  2. Drag and drop your file or click Browse to locate and select your file.
  3. Click Upload.

Note: you are responsible for protecting any sensitive information in the documents you are uploading (for example, your Social Security Number). Use correction fluid or a security redacting marker to cover any sensitive information.

Your document(s) are reviewed within 3-5 business days. Your account remains suspended until the review is complete. You will receive an email with your review results. Contact PhORCAS Customer Service with any questions.

During the review period, you can still send transcripts to PhORCAS.

PGY2 Suspensions

Your application to a PGY2 residency program may be suspended if the organization where you completed your PGY1 residency program is not ASHP-accredited or in ASHP-candidate status. When you indicate this in the Program Year Information section, PhORCAS reviews your application to determine eligibility. To correct your application, you must provide a document that lists the following information about your PGY1 pharmacy residency:

  • Residency program name
  • Residency program address
  • Residency Program Director's name
  • Residency Program Director's email address
  • Date when completed or plan to complete your PGY1 residency program

Correcting Your PGY2 Application

Once you receive notification that your application is suspended, you will be logged out of the application and brought to a screen where you can submit the supplemental information listed above.

  1. Click Upload Document.
  2. Drag and drop your file or click Browse to locate and select your file.
  3. Click Upload.

Note: you are responsible for protecting any sensitive information in the documents you are uploading (for example, your Social Security Number). Use correction fluid or a security redacting marker to cover any sensitive information.

You can only upload one document.

Your document is reviewed within 3-5 business days. Your account remains suspended until the review is complete. You will receive an email with your review results. Contact PhORCAS Customer Service with any questions.
