Migrating/publishing Group Assignment Configurations

Once you’ve configured Group Assignments, you will want to either Publish them in your Org or Migrate them to another Org. Listed below are the most common scenarios. Click the link to view detailed steps for each:

Scenario 1: Update Group Assignment changes in Production org (Prod to Prod)
Publish Group Assignment changes in your Production Org - If you have built or changed your Group Assignments in production and want to deploy into production (i.e., same Org)

Scenario 2: Migrate Group Assignment changes from Production to Sandbox 
Migrate Group Assignment changes from Production to Sandbox.

Scenario 3: Migrate Group Assignment changes from Sandbox to Production 
Migrate Group Assignment changes from Sandbox to Production.

Scenario 4: Migrate Group Assignment changes from Sandbox to Sandbox 
Migrate Group Assignment changes from Sandbox to Sandbox.

Each scenario includes the same steps, but the details vary depending on the type of Source and Target orgs you are using.

Notes:

  • If you're building in a sandbox, this means that the assignments will only be active in your test environment, and you will need to migrate the assignments to your production org after you've completed your testing so that your new Contacts or Accounts will be assigned based on your criteria.
  • If you're working in production, this means that your assignments will be live, and any new contacts created during this period will be assigned as per the criteria you updated. No existing records will be impacted.
