Release 12 – January 4, 2026

New Features and Enhancements

Cross-Portal Enhancements

Liaison's suite of portals work together to help you collect and manage applications. The CAS application, also referred to as the CAS Applicant Portal, is the system where applicants find and apply to your programs. You receive these applications in WebAdMIT or Liaison Outcomes, where you perform your review processes. The appearance of your program and your requirements are customized in the CAS Configuration Portal, where you establish the program-specific elements that your applicants will interact with. Additionally, your program may use one or more of the following tools and platforms:

  • API: a data integration tool.
  • CAS Applicant Gateway: a platform for applicants who have already submitted their CAS application to complete and upload additional materials requested by their programs.
  • CAS Liaison Analytics and Othot: advanced analytics solutions and data reporting tools.
  • CAS Liaison Letters: a platform for evaluators to submit their letters of recommendation.
  • Enrollment Marketing and TargetX: customer relationship management (CRM) systems for student lifecycle management.
  • Living Profile: a platform where students can connect their academic pursuits with their career aspirations.
  • SlideRoom: a platform for collecting digital portfolios.
  • Time2Track: a platform for tracking, verifying, and managing experiences.

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

Experience Description/Key Responsibilities Character Limit Increase

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs using the standard Experiences section. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

The Description/Key Responsibilities field in the Experiences section of the CAS Applicant Portal has increased its character limit from 600 to 700 characters. This allows applicants to provide more detailed information.

If you extract this data via the CAS API, Liaison Outcomes, or WebAdMIT, you may need to update your data integrations to accommodate the increased character limit.

Coming Soon: TOEFL Scoring Scale Changes

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs accepting unofficial and official TOEFL scores. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

Starting January 21, 2026, ETS's TOEFL exam will have a new 1-6 scoring scale for each section and overall total score. This new scale is more directly aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). To accommodate this, the following changes will be made:

  • CAS Applicant Portal: applicants will be able to report their scores in both the old and new scoring scales in the Standardized Tests section. If available in your CAS, they can continue to send official TOEFL scores to their programs via the CAS TOEFL code.
  • CAS API: the CAS API Application response models (v1 & v2) have been extended with two new JSON nodes to support these changes. The location of the new node for applicant reported tests is academicHistory->tests->reported->TOEFL2026, while the location of the new node for official tests is academicHistory->tests->official->TOEFL2026. For more information, including supported properties under each node, see the application response models on the CAS API Swagger page.
  • Liaison Analytics: TOEFL scores on the new scale will be available in the existing TOEFL dashboards.
  • Liaison Outcomes: the updated scoring scale will be reflected in the TOEFL score table.
  • WebAdMIT: a new set of TOEFL-related fields for this new scoring scale will be available. You must add these fields to any place you may already pull in TOEFL fields (e.g., lists, exports, scoring, etc.).

Important: when you receive official TOEFL scores taken after January 21, 2026, ETS will provide the historical scale equivalent for only the overall total score (i.e., both a 6 (on the new scoring scale) and 120 (on the old scoring scale)). ETS is not providing the historical scale equivalent for any section scores (i.e., you will only get a 4 (on the new scoring scale) for the Reading section). Be sure to review all your templates to accommodate the new scoring scale and capture the data you need.

More information will be shared in future release notes.

CAS API Enhancements

The following enhancements are automatically available for the CAS API, and no action is required on the part of any school or program. If you have any questions about these features, contact support.

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

New Jumpstart API Automatically Filters the Add Programs Page

A new public, instance-scoped CAS Jumpstart API allows you to pre-filter the Add Programs page in the Applicant Portal so that applicants initially see only the programs that belong to the schools or campuses they've been conditionally admitted to.

For more information, see the conditionalAdmits endpoint under the Application resource in the CAS API Swagger page.

Automatic Reminder Emails for Incomplete Evaluations and Missing Transcripts for PTE

For the Professional Transcript Entry (PTE) Missing Transcript email template, this email is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

For the Incomplete Evaluation email template, this email is being piloted in the current cycle. It must be requested by the CAS association or UniCAS client for use in the next cycle. If activated, this enhancement will be available for all participating programs in the next cycle. CAS association and UniCAS clients: contact a member of your account team for more information or to enable this feature.

Two new email templates are now available to remind applicants about outstanding application materials:

  • Incomplete Evaluation: this email template is sent to applicants to alert them that their evaluator (i.e., recommender, reference) has not completed the letter of evaluation request yet.
  • Professional Transcript Entry (PTE) Missing Transcript: this email template is sent to applicants who have paid for the PTE service but have not had all their required transcripts received by the CAS yet. PTE cannot begin until all required transcripts are received.

This enhancement encourages applicants to submit their application materials, thereby moving them towards a Complete or Verified application status and alleviating the burden on schools to notify applicants of missing materials.

This release note was updated on January 7 to reflect the latest availability for each template.

Liaison Outcomes Enhancements

The following enhancements are now available in Liaison Outcomes. If you have any questions about these features, contact a member of your account team or support.

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

Resizable Columns on Contacts Grid

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

Several enhancements have been made to the Contacts Grid functionality:

  • Resizable grid columns: you can now click and drag the column headers on the Contacts Grid to improve visibility.
  • First column can be pinned: you can now "pin" the first column of the grid, causing it to stay in place while you scroll to the right. To enable this, go to the Contacts Grid settings, click Customize Columns, and check Pin First Column.
  • "Many fields" are available as column headers: "many fields" are fields that allow applicants to enter several answers for the same question, such as colleges attended, test scores, or experiences. Previously, these types of fields were not available to add as headers in the Contacts Grid. With this enhancement, those fields can now be used as headers, and the grid adjusts when several values apply to the applicant.

Any customizations you make to the grid, such as column widths or selections, are saved for future sessions.

ResidencyCAS Applicant Portal Enhancements

ERAS Letter Release Functionality

During SOAP, ResidencyCAS applicants can choose to send their letters of recommendation (LOR) to ERAS if they are trying to SOAP into programs other than OBGYN or Emergency Medicine, rather than asking references to complete a LOR directly in ERAS. This functionality reduces redundancy for references and alleviates stress for the applicant.

When applicants navigate to the Evaluations section of their application, they'll see a banner explaining this option. If they click Learn More, they'll see additional details and can choose to opt in. Once they opt in and release their letters, the decision is final and cannot be undone.

Limit Designations in SOAP to 45

As part of this year's SOAP match, applicants can only submit up to 45 SOAP-designated programs in ResidencyCAS. This limit helps keep the process fair and manageable for both unmatched applicants and programs with unfilled positions.

The 45-program limit applies across all specialties. For example, if an applicant applies to 10 Emergency Medicine programs and 35 OBGYN programs, they have reached the maximum and can't apply to additional SOAP programs. Only programs marked as SOAP-eligible count toward this limit.

Applicants can add as many SOAP-eligible programs to their cart as they want, but they can only submit applications to a maximum of 45 programs.

Time2Track Enhancements

The following enhancements are automatically available for Time2Track (unless otherwise noted), and no action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. If you have any questions about these features, contact your Account Manager or customer service.

Various Updates to Form Manager and Workflow

Several updates have been made to the Form Manager and its workflow, including:

  • When building forms, your changes no longer automatically save; you must click Save after making any changes.
  • When a recipient is completing their part of a form workflow, the Form Submission page now shows the form's status and version date in the top left. Additionally, if a form data field, such as school, training site, or term, is blank, a dash appears in the field value; previously, it was left blank.
  • When previewing or completing a form, questions assigned to a specific workflow recipient are now highlighted in blue. Additionally, every question in a form now has a recipient indicator.
  • When an institutional administrator selects the Primary Supervisor Only filter, they can continue to the next step when sending a form; previously, they received an error message.

WebAdMIT Enhancements

The following enhancements are now available in WebAdMIT. If you have any questions about these features, contact a member of your account team or support.

Disclaimer: on rare occasions, a new feature or enhancement may be moved to a future release or otherwise subject to change.

Hide Applicant Names for Blind Reviews

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

You can now hide applicant names in WebAdMIT so that users can conduct blind reviews. A new Hide Applicant Names permission is available in Work Groups, and when activated, it removes the applicant names from the Dashboard, search pages, and the following areas on the Applicant Details page:

  • Applicant header (first, middle, and last names)
  • Personal Information panel, Biographic Information subpanel (nickname and alternate first, middle, and last names)
  • Personal Information panel, Biographic Information subpanel (preferred first and middle names) (for WebAdMIT for AMCAS users only)
  • Designation panel, Alternate Contact subpanel (name) (for WebAdMIT for AMCAS users only)

Note that this permission does not hide the applicant's name in the full application PDF, reports, or the applicant's email address, where their full name may be listed. You may want to remove access to these sections when conducting blind reviews.

Coming Soon: Deactivation for Inactive Accounts

This enhancement is automatically available for use by all CASs and participating programs. No action is required on the part of any association, school, or program. Contact a member of your account team for more information.

In early February 2026, users who haven't logged in to WebAdMIT in the past 18 months will have their accounts deactivated. This enhances the security of WebAdMIT and ensures only current and active users can access applicants and admissions data. To learn more about this and review best practices, visit the Managing Users page.

Shared Lookup Table Updates for Spring 2026

March 2026

Many fields in the Applicant Portal contain predefined answer values that applicants can select; for example, the Country and County fields both have predefined answer values. These values are housed in shared "lookup tables" which are viewable in your CAS's/UniCAS's data dictionary file.

Lookup table change requests can be sent to a member of your account team, who will compile and review these requests. New lookup table values will appear in the CAS Applicant Portal in March 2026 (subject to change).

Visit the Shared Lookup Table Updates page for more information.
