Troubleshooting using Console Mode

Your browser console is one of the best ways to assist in troubleshooting. Console mode is most effective when looking at Visualforce pages or anything via a force.com site or Community (like the Application or Events).

To access your browser console:

  • PC users can click F12 or right-click the mouse and select inspect.
  • Mac users can use Option-Command-J (in Chrome) or right-click the mouse and select Inspect.

The images below show how to access the console and what it looks like once opened:

To get the best results from console mode, access the record (Event, Application, Appointment, etc.) and open the console window. Then, interact like you're the contact who had the problem. Try to reproduce the behavior – watch and see if anything pops up in the console in addition to (or in lieu of) any errors that may appear on the user's view.

Console errors often reference problems with permissions. Once you've seen the error in the console, you can copy and paste it into the TargetX Help Center to see if there's a documented resolution. If you can't find a written resolution, you can submit the error as a case to our support team.

Resolving Common Errors articles are a great place to start troubleshooting, as a solution to your problem may already be documented:
