Insights Release Notes
July 12, 2021
This release includes a new Equity Dashboard to help you track your Diversity and Equity initiatives. The Funnel Attrition Dashboard shows how students pass through your enrollment and yield process based on ethnicity and gender. This will help you identify areas where you want to direct attention and demonstrate your DEI programs' efficacy.

In this release, you'll see a few changes to the Benchmark Dashboards. You can now see the list of schools that comprise your school's comparative school group. For example, if your school is a 4-Year, Large, Public, City school, you can now see the complete list of all the other schools that also meet that criteria and whose data we use to calculate your comparative school group.
We've also updated the layout and chart type for the applicant volume Charts on the Enrollment Dashboard to make them more readable.
And if you're digging into your data further, you'll see that the tables in the Benchmarks dashboard views have more detail - specifically, you'll see both raw values and percentages where we used to show percentages. To get to these table views, click the more info icon in the top right of any view.

More customization is coming your way with this release! Insights can now reflect the various Academic Terms you have set up at your school that may not fit with the standard "Fall 2021" or "Spring 2022" format. If you have terms like "Fall Online 2021" or "Spring I 2022 and Spring II 2022," Insights now supports those terms. If you'd like to update your Insights configuration to use custom term values that you have in your CRM, reach out to your client success manager to get those changes implemented.

This release includes three redesigned dashboards. Remember when we updated Insights to reflect your custom values for Student Type? Since the number of student type values varies significantly from school to school, we needed to update the dashboards with that data to be clear and digestible. You'll see these changes on the Demographics, Events Overview, and Events Performance dashboards.

Happy New Year! As we ring in a new year, we want to celebrate with something big.
Introducing - Benchmark Dashboards!
For our four-year undergraduate schools, you'll see the new Benchmark Dashboards in your left navigation. These dashboards use publicly available data from IPEDS to compare your school to schools like yours in key metrics.
The Enrollment Dashboard provides comparative information for applicant volume and year-over-year change, admit and yield rates, and gender breakdowns. In the Academic Quality Dashboard, you'll get details about your SAT and ACT test scores - the scores and the rate students reported them.
Your comparative school group is defined by several dimensions you provided to IPEDS: enrollment size, public or private, and locale.
More information can be found in the dashboards, including specific data definitions and downloadable data. Click the "i" icon in the top right corner of any view to get to these details.

New Residency Filter - This filter allows you to differentiate between your in-state, out-of-state, and international students. Currently, this filter is only available for our US clients. And the good news - there's nothing you need to do to set this filter up. Insights compare your school's location to your student's mailing address to populate these filters - so you should see them all set up in your filter sidebar.
Student Type Customization - We've updated Insights to show your CRM's values for Student Type rather than our previously standardized values. Student Type is such an important piece of data to track, and every school handles it differently, so we wanted to give you the flexibility to see the student types that matter most to you. You should see this in Insights without any updates required on your end.
Feeder School Bug Fixed - We've fixed how the Feeder School table is sorted so that schools with the same name are clearly differentiated. Many schools share the same names, so we updated the table to reflect all of the various Washington High Schools and University Prep Schools your students have attended.

The biggest news with this release: we've overhauled the way you can track targets. Here's how the changes break down:
- New Stages - You can now set targets for five different funnel stages: Inquiries, Applicants, Admits, Confirms, and Enrolled.
- New Subcategories - We've added the ability to set targets for three new subcategories: Campus, Counselor, and Gender. You'll see these alongside the previously available subcategories of Student Type, Student Level, and Academic Program.
- New Target Tracking Dashboards - These new stages and subcategories can be found in the fully redesigned Target Tracking dashboards. Don't worry - all of your previously configured targets can also be found there.
- Streamlined Target Setup Process - if you're an admin user who is entering targets for your school, you'll see that adding and editing targets is much cleaner and easier to move through - especially if you're entering a series of targets all at once.
In addition, there are now increased ways to customize your instance of Insights for the Student Level field. If you'd like to take advantage of this customization, please don't hesitate to reach out to your client success manager, and we'll get you all set up.

Two updates on filters for this release:
- New Citizenship filter - This filter will pull in your CRM's values that you track regarding a student's citizenship status. Whether you track general statuses or get as specific as visa types, this filter will cover the values you use at your school. To get this filter configured, reach out to your client success manager.
- You can now use the Student Stage filter on the Academic Quality Dashboard. You can filter your test score and GPA data to reflect groups like your admitted students or your enrolled students.
March 2020
- Insights is now integrated with a TargetX User Authentication system which allows Organization Admins to invite users to access Insights. For details on managing users in the new system, see: TargetX User Management.
- The Academic Quality dashboard has been updated to include visualizations for TOEFL, GRE, and GMAT.
- The Events Performance dashboard has been updated for easier usability.
December 2019
Enhancements
- A new Counselors Dashboard is available in a new Counselors section.
- In order to view Feeder Schools plotted on the map, geocoding must be enabled - instructions can be found in the Salesforce Help & Training article: Automatically Get Geocodes for Addresses.
- If you are not using the Inquiry object, then Application Activity will display No Inquiries.
- You may see TargetX Integration in the drop-down list for Counselors and in the filter for Owner. This is because the contact owner is designated as the TargetX Integration user. This should likely be cleaned up, especially if it's being handled by Group Assignment.

With TargetX Insights, our goal is to provide better access to recruitment targets and enrollment analytics so you can easily measure the impact of decisions, adjust forecasts and track goals based on facts. This new data platform provides out-of-the-box, higher ed specific dashboards powered by near real-time data, and also overcomes obstacles to Salesforce reporting, such as reporting across multiple objects.
Once you login, the Insights menu will display the various dashboards broken down into several categories:
-
Enrollment allows you to view an Overview of Enrollment data as well as Student Demographics data, Applications data and Discovery data.
-
Enrollment Targets allow you to view targets for Applications, Deposits and Enrolled students by Year/Term and by Program, Student Type or Student Level.
-
Events allows you to view attendance for your Event Types as well as how Event Attendance compares Year over Year and by Month.
Various filters allow users to customize their view of data and Administrators have access to Settings & Preferences to manage Mappings, Targets, Users, Roles, and Permissions. Users also have the option to print data as a PDF or CSV file. For additional information, please see: Insights FAQ.
